Itanagar: Eight students, including five girls, from remote Sarli and Daporijo in Arunachal Pradesh have successfully cleared the written entrance examination for Sainik Schools and the New Sainik School.
The results were declared on May 23, a senior army official said.
The achievement has been made possible through the concerted efforts of the Indian Army's Spear Corps. Launched under the aegis of the Spearhead Division, the Army's eight-month intensive coaching programme enrolled 33 students from border villages. The initiative included structured academic coaching, mentoring, provision of essential study materials and logistical support for the conduct of the examination held at Itanagar on April 5.
The students were on a state integration tour after the exam and had the honour of interacting with Arunachal governor KT Parnaik.
The official said the remarkable success not only reflects the untapped potential in the region but also underscores the Indian Army's unwavering commitment to national integration, youth empowerment and educational equity in border areas. The next phase involves guided e-counselling sessions to aid in their final selection process, he said. "I am thankful to the Indian Army for sponsoring Sainik School Coaching Classes to me and many of my friends," said one of the students from Sarli, Milli Yabi.
