Gen Z pregnant woman Liv sits on the couch eating sherbet with her ginger cat on her stomach. @ "And then it feels like the minute I got pregnant and told my friends that I got pregnant, they stopped showing up," the 20-year-old said. "No one checks in on you anymore, and if they are checking on you, it's to check in on the baby." Milligan said that the only people who are there for her are her partner, 23-year-old Skyler Nelson, and her mother. "Other than that, we really only have each other, so it can be lonely," Milligan added. Loneliness during pregnancy is a significant concern among younger women. A 2023 study published in BMC Psychiatry found that 38 percent of pregnant women reported feeling lonely at least some of the time. Milligan highlighted the disparity between her life before pregnancy and now, revealing that she has minimal to no contact with friends. "I have a few that I still talk to or hang around with once a month to go to a farmers' market or go shopping but, other than that, I don't text or call anybody," Milligan told Newsweek. "I feel like it kind of showed their true colors." As a result, the mom-to-be said that she has now become more introverted since she's been pregnant. To help her combat loneliness, Milligan finds comfort in her dog and two cats. TikTok has also become a resourceful outlet, especially as it relates to her video, which has amassed over 313,000 views. "It's reached thousands [and] people all over the world have commented on the video and said they feel the same," Milligan said. "I'm so glad I'm not the only one who has this feeling going on." Many pregnant women did resonate with the clip. One user wrote that, with their husband gone all day and night, they feel "alone and drained." Another commented that pregnancy is isolating and, even if you are invited to something, she doesn't have the energy. For other moms in a similar situation, Milligan, who is expecting a baby girl in August, advised to embrace the loneliness. "I feel like, once she comes, I'm going to be anything but lonely," she said. "Having a daughter to me is almost like having a small friend, like a little best friend. I'm really excited for that because that's how me and my mom were."

Court hears Peterhead mechanic could lose job after driving ban

A speeder from Peterhead faces losing his job as a mechanic after he was banned from driving again. Joe Davidson, who has previously been disqualified, was caught by police on August 12 last year speeding through Peterhead. At the time, the 23-year-old held only a provisional licence and had no insurance on the car, a black Skoda Octavia. At Peterhead Sheriff Court on Friday, his solicitor claimed he now faced losing not only his driving privileges, but also his job. Fiscal depute Claire Stewart told the court that officers collared Davidson at about 11.10am after following him when he made his way through Ugie Street and Wilson Street. They witnessed him travelling at speed and failing to slow down when taking a left-hand turn into a nearby business. His defence solicitor, Sam Milligan, said the property where he eventually came to a stop was where Davidson worked and provided a letter from his boss. On being handed the note, Sheriff Craig Findlater, who made reference to Davidson's previous convictions and 'number of periods of disqualification', commented: 'Talking about how punctual he is?' Mr Milligan continued: 'The confirmation from the employer is that there's a different level of maturity expressed. 'He sees the police, my lord, and he reacts in the fashion described. There has been no further offending since.' He added that the career plan for Davidson, from his employer, was to train as an MOT tester. 'Depending on the extent of the disqualification, the employment may be in jeopardy,' Mr Milligan said. Upon hearing the facts of the case, Sheriff Findlater told Davidson to stand. 'I do see the very positive terms before me from your employer,' he said. The sheriff went on to ban Davidson, of Ives Road, for four months and endorsed his licence with three penalty points. Additionally, he also imposed a total fine of £400, which Davidson will pay back at the rate of £20 per week. Sheriff Findlater added: 'If you do not make these payments, you may be brought back to court to explain why that is.'

Socceroos great handed mighty new task

Socceroos great Mark Milligan has been given the task of lifting the Newcastle Jets out of the A-League wilderness as coaching reshuffles among several battling clubs continue with the regular season done. It's the first head coaching role for Milligan, 39, who went to four World Cups with the Socceroos among his 80 caps for the national team. He's signed until the end of the 2026-27 season and replaces Rob Stanton, who learnt of his demise last month but oversaw the Jets' final-round 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory. The Jets won just eight games in the 2024-25 season, missing the finals for the eighth season in a row, having not made the post-season since losing the 2017-18 grand final to Melbourne Victory. ADVERTISEMENT Milligan takes the reins having been a highly rated assistant at Adelaide United from 2022-25 before working with the Malaysian men's national team. 'I am excited and thankful for the opportunity to be the club's new A-League Men's head coach,' Milligan said in a statement. 'It is exciting times under the new ownership of the Newcastle Jets, and it was clear very early on that their strategy is consistent with my vision for the Jets, which will be built on player development and ultimately achieve team success.' Milligan played for the Jets in 2008-09 as part of a lengthy A-League career, the bulk of which was played at Melbourne Victory, having also had playing stints overseas. He was also a stalwart for the Socceroos, playing in four World Cups and winning the 2015 Asian Cup. Milligan retired from international football and finished his club career at Macarthur before moving into coaching. ADVERTISEMENT Jets chairman Maurice Bisetto said Milligan was the best choice for the job. 'As we progressed through the process of identifying a new A-League Men's head coach, it became clear that Mark was well placed to take the club into a new era,' he said. Mark Milligan will coach the Newcastle Jets. 'Mark has made the transition to coaching seamlessly and we are excited to have him on-board as a leader in our organisation. 'We are confident Mark will be able to instil a strong culture across all facets of the club, including building a winning team that the region can be proud of.' There will also be new coaches a the Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United next season.

Soccer-Former Socceroo Milligan to coach Newcastle Jets

MELBOURNE, May 6 (Reuters) - The Newcastle Jets have named former Australia defender Mark Milligan as head coach of the A-League strugglers, replacing the sacked Rob Stanton in a widely telegraphed appointment. Milligan, who made 80 appearances for the Socceroos including four World Cups, will be tasked with turning the Jets around in the 2025-26 season after they missed the playoffs for a seventh successive season. "It is exciting times under the new ownership of the Newcastle Jets," Milligan, who played for a season at the Jets in 2008-09, said in a statement on Tuesday. "It was clear very early on that their strategy is consistent with my vision for the Jets, which will be built on player development and ultimately achieve team success. "Having played for the club and spent time in Newcastle, I am acutely aware of the fan's desire to see a certain brand of football based on a high-energy attacking style of play." Milligan, 39, was appointed assistant coach of Malaysia under compatriot Peter Cklamovski two months ago, having held similar roles at A-League sides Adelaide United and Macarthur FC, where he finished his professional playing career in 2021. The Jets, who finished ninth in the 13-team A-League this season, won their sole championship in 2008 but have not made the playoffs since a run to the 2018 Grand Final under former boss Ernie Merrick. The club has been blighted by ownership problems and financial crises for more than a decade but are hopeful of better times ahead since being bought by the Maverick Sports Group last year. "Having spent time here as a player, Mark knows what it means to connect to the community and the importance of establishing an identity for the Newcastle Jets," said chairman Maurice Bisetto. "We are confident Mark will be able to instil a strong culture across all facets of the club, including building a winning team that the region can be proud of." Mark Milligan spent between 2018-19 at Hibs towards the end of his playing career that was largely spent in Asia and his native Australia, who he featured for 80 times. In total, Milligan played 31 times for the Easter Road side before a stint at Southend United and then heading back to Australia. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad Milligan most recently was assistant coach with the Malaysian National Team under fellow Australian Peter Cklamovski, having previously worked as an assistant coach with Adelaide United from 2022-2025. He started out his post-playing career with Macarthur and now becomes the top man at a team he featured with between 2008-09. Former Hibs midfielder verdict on head coach chance Maverick Sports Partners Executive Chairman Maurice Bisetto said: 'As we progressed through the process of identifying a new A-League Men's Head Coach, it became clear that Mark was well placed to take the Club into a new era. Mark has made the transition to coaching seamlessly and we are excited to have him onboard as a leader in our organisation. I look forward to working with this group of players and adding to the foundations that have begun to be put in place. We will continue building the relationships that the Maverick Sports Partners have been re-establishing.' Milligan verdict on Hibs The former midfielder loved his time in Leith. He said previously of his Hibs stint: 'It was a little bit unsettling with Neil Lennon leaving and the mid-season tournament with the national team but I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hibs. From a football point of view, the second half of the season was a lot better for me. 'It's often hard travelling with the national team but once that second half of the season kicked in I was able to settle in more. I was very disappointed that I had to leave but it got taken out of my hands a little bit, I'd 100% have stayed, my wife still gets angry at me for leaving! It's always hard to adapt when you switch countries but knowing you have such a good following makes things easier. Paul Heckingbottom was a very talented coach and I really enjoyed the way he had us playing. That was the disappointing thing for me, I think I started every single game under him when I was there. 'It is hard, he was trying to build a longer-term goal and mould the way Hibs play and the culture of the club. But you always have to be careful with a club like Hibs where the culture in the changing room is very strong. If you come in and try to change too much too soon, especially at a club that has a good culture, you can find it difficult. There are a lot of strong personalities at that club in a good way but when you try and make such big changes it can be very difficult to get that right. Advertisement Hide Ad Advertisement Hide Ad 'But I understood what Paul Heckingbottom was trying to do at the club. It obviously didn't work for him but they are back on track now. He was looking long-term and wanted to go younger, which happens when you get towards the end of your career. To see him depart so early in the campaign last term was a bit hard to watch as we were very happy in Edinburgh and Scotland.'
