'Wheel of Fortune' Contestant Experiences a 'Million Dollar Heartbreaker' After This Game Mishap
Wheel of Fortune contestant Andrew Leachko was inches away from the show's coveted $1 million prize. On the May 9 episode of the long-running game show, the Cleveland, Ohio native had the chance to become the first man, and fifth contestant, to win the biggest cash prize offered on Wheel of Fortune. After facing off against fellow participants Natalya Batenman, a stay-at-home mom and Audrey Cheatham, a former officer turned high school teacher, Leachko excited fans when he landed on the Million Dollar wedge during the AARP Mystery Round. Related: Wheel of Fortune Fans Left Stunned After Contestant Blows 2 Chances at $1 Million Bonus Per Wheel of Fortune rules, when a contestant lands on the coveted wedge, they must solve the round's puzzle without landing on a bankrupt wedge. If the player is able to win the game without going bankrupt, the $100,000 bonus wheel envelope will be replaced with a $1 million one. At the end of his episode-winning run, Leachko went into the bonus round with $30,228 in his pocket. After spinning the bonus wheel, he landed on the "S" wedge and had to solve a final puzzle in the "Event" category. He was given letters R, S, T, L, N, E before selecting additional letters C, M, D and A. With the puzzle reading, '_ _ R / _ E A R L _ / _ A S _," Leachko correctly guessed the first two words as "Our yearly," but got stuck on the last word in the phrase. Related: Wheel of Fortune Contestant Sends Fans Into a Frenzy After 'Painful' Mishap Costs Her $7K "Our yearly fast? Our yearly past? Our yearly ... case?" he guessed before the 10-second timer ran out and co-hosts Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White revealed the puzzle to be "Our yearly bash." "Close!" Seacrest said before opening the prize envelope to reveal $40,000 written on the card. "And that's the envelope in my hand." The television personality then led Leachko back to the bonus wheel, where he shared that the $1 million prize envelope was just "inches away" from the wedge he landed on. Related: How Do You Become a Contestant on Wheel of Fortune? Over the course of Wheel of Fortune's history, only four players have been able to win the $1 million prize. Winners include Michelle Loewenstein (2008), Autumn Erhard (2013), Sarah Manchester (2014), and Sabrina the Teenage Witch alum Melissa Joan Hart on Celebrity Wheel of Fortune (2021). After Leacheko lost, fans reacted to the moment on social media and expressed their shock at his loss. 'OMG!!! Andrew almost land [sic] on the 1 million dollars envelope on Wheel Of Fortune!!! Now that's another 1 million dollar heartbreaker," one user wrote on YouTube, while another added, "Won't lie, since he didn't get the puzzle, I'm happy he didn't land on the million dollar card." 'One space away from what would have been a million-dollar heartbreaker,' someone else commented. LIV golf coming to South Africa?
The big question is, where in SA would an LIV tournament be put on — at Sun City or at Fancourt perhaps? South African golfer Dean Burmester, who plays for the Stinger team in LIV golf, in action in South Korea last weekend. Picture:If South African minister of sport Gayton McKenzie has any say in it, an LIV golf tournament will soon be staged in South Africa. Golf's breakaway tour, LIV, which is funded by Saudi Arabia, is still in its infancy after being established in 2021 to compete with the US PGA Tour, but drawing big crowds all over the world. There are now tournaments in Europe, Asia, Australia and North America … but not in Africa. McKenzie, who visited the South African LIV team, 'Stinger', at the tournament in Incheon, South Korea last weekend, said in a social media post on Facebook on Monday: 'We are very close to bringing the worlds most exciting golf tournament LIV Golf to South Africa, 54 of the worlds top golfers will descend on South African soil in very near future, I wanna thank Stinger GC crew, we nearly there boys.' The LIV 'Stinger' team consists of four South African players, namely Major winners Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel, as well as Dean Burmester and Branden Grace. McKenzie met with LIV golf CEO Scott O'Neil at the weekend and said on Facebook: 'I met with the brilliant CEO, Scott O'Neil, and the rest of his bright executive team at golf's freshest new globe-spanning tournament, LIV Golf, which has an all-South African team, Stingers GC. We are full of hope about bringing this festival of sport and culture to SA soon.' In a video clip shared by McKenzie he says, among other things, 'The Stinger boys are the next best thing to come out of South Africa after the Springboks.' Where would an LIV tournament be held? For some time now there has been speculation in South African golfing circles about bringing a lucrative LIV event to the country. Not since the heyday of the Million Dollar golf tournament in the 80s and 90s and early 2000s at Sun City has South Africa staged a golf tournament with a world class field. The new-look Million Dollar, the Nedbank Golf Challenge, has become a regular season DP World Tour (European Tour) event, at Sun City, but has failed to draw the very best golfers to South Africa. Could an LIV tournament replace the Nedbank Golf Challenge at Sun City in the future? Or would Fancourt in the south western Cape be a better option to showcase South Africa to the golfing world? Some of the top players involved in LIV include Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Cameron Smith, Patrick Reed, Sergio Garcia, Phil Mickelson, Tyrrell Hatton, Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood, Bubba Watson, Brooks Koepka and multiple tournament winner Joaquin Niemann. DeChambeau won the tournament in Incheon last weekend. Schwartzel won the very first LIV tournament in 2022 in London, while Burmester won in Miami last season.

People Are Sharing The Worst 'Bonuses' They Ever Got At Work, And I'm Crying At The Company Pizza Party
When bonuses come around at work, most people expect something that will reflect the hard and tireless work they've put into their job. But not always the case. So when a Reddit user asked the question, "What's the worst 'bonus' a job has ever given you?" in the r/AskReddit community, I knew it would be full of jaw-dropping letdowns: 1. "I got a frozen strip steak one Christmas. Just one. I told my wife she was out of luck." 2. "I worked at a big auction house for people with lots of money, doing manual labor. For Christmas, we got a coupon for a cup of the coffee shop in the building. We already had free coffee. I still have the coupon; it's a nice reminder of what I walked away from." — u/ohhhhfcukkkk 3. "I worked at a department store for the holidays one year. We had a record Black Friday, so they got us Little Caesars (one slice per person) while managers had a catered lunch from one of the nicer restaurants nearby." 4. "Tickets to the local university football game. We worked at a college bookstore. Nearly all of us, except management and the full-time lead cashier, were students of the university. We could already get in free with our student IDs." "The student section was a lot better than these nosebleed end zone seats he was handing out. Exceeded sales goals by almost 10%, and his 'special' reward to us was something we all already got for free." 5. "A walnut cake…I have a severe allergy to nuts, which the whole (small) company knew about." 6. "My old retail job gave us all turkey vouchers for Thanksgiving. When we went to redeem them, it turned out they were actually $5 off if you bought a turkey worth $25 or more." — u/CurvyTigergirl 7. "A poinsettia AFTER Christmas was over. They used them to decorate the restaurant, and then the 'bonus' was they handed them out to employees instead of properly caring or disposing of them." 8. "I worked for a small sales-based company. They were pushing hard for the first 'Million Dollar Month' and kept saying they would make it worth our while! We assumed a big bonus, a trip, a fancy steakhouse, something! When we finally hit it, we each got a bobblehead of one of the executives." — u/bondsman333 9. "A chocolate box with five small chocolates. It was to thank us for the release of a product that doubled the company's revenue." 10. "A picture of an ornament with a hole punched out of it so you can hang it from your tree. It had the company logo on it." — u/the-cookie-momster 11. "I worked throughout the pandemic, coming into contact with people from all over the globe. I'm not allowed to say specifically what my job was, but it was in the public sector. After the pandemic ended, we were each given a sachet of porridge as a bonus. Lucky us." 12. "A poker chip with 'APPRECIATION' written on it. Literally a token of appreciation." — u/yepthisismyaccount 13. "I worked in sales for a major wood products manufacturer. I sold record-breaking volume to the tune of $51 million for my territory. Second place sold $12 million. I received a $100 bonus, while the guy in second place received a Rolex." SrdjanPav / Getty Images "The CEO made a joke about it at the sales conference. 'Sometimes it's best to come in second place.' I walked out and typed my two-week notice. I started my own company as a direct competitor of my former employer. I'm still in business. They are not." — u/rollcasttotheriffle And finally, here's a story of one of those incredibly crappy work "bonuses" that will actually leave you speechless: 14. "I worked at a company for nine years and through some of its toughest times. I often worked unpaid overtime and went above and beyond. These were some of the highlights the boss pointed out while giving a recognition speech about me." FG Trade Latin / Getty Images "He ended it with, 'Most families save the biggest piece of chicken for the breadwinner, so keeping with that tradition, I'm offering you the biggest and first slice of cake.' After being recognized in such a manner, I waited for about a month for an actual monetary bonus. Upon receiving nothing, I put in my notice, citing the speech and lack of actual reward for my efforts."

California man submits ballot initiative asking voters if state should become its own country
A California man is leading the charge to have the state split from the United States. The office of California Secretary of State Shirley Weber said Marcus Evans can begin collecting signatures to put the questions to voters. "Should California leave the United States and become a free and independent country?" the question reads. La Fires: 'Million Dollar Listing' Stars Raise Alarm About Illegal Price Gouging To qualify for the November 2028 ballot, Evans must collect the signatures of at least 546,651 registered voters by July 22. If approved, the measure wouldn't trigger independence for the Golden State. Instead it would declare a "vote of no confidence in the United States of America" and an "expression of the will of the people of California" to become an independent country without changing the state's government or its relationship with the U.S. Read On The Fox News App In addition, a 20-member commission would be established to study whether California could govern itself and its viability as a nation. Ricki Lake Says Rebuilding After La Fires Destroyed Her Home Is 'Exhausting And Paralyzing' Secession from the U.S. would require a constitutional amendment, which would need approval from two-thirds of states. Despite the proposal, the California constitution notes that the state "is an inseparable part of the United States of America." "The U.S. Constitution includes neither a mechanism for a state to secede from the United States nor a provision for a single state to be an autonomous nation within the United States," the California Legislative Analyst's Office states.
