Dubai chocolate bars are coming to Trader Joe's — at a very low price
Trader Joe's customers are in for a sweet treat. The grocery store chain is hopping on the Dubai chocolate trend, putting the pistachio-infused chocolate bars on their shelves — and the price tag for the viral sensation is on the low end. In a Reddit post, a Trader Joe's employee revealed that the chocolate will reportedly be added to the store's candy section starting May 28 at the low price of $3.99. Advertisement The ingredients of the TJ's dupe are similar to the original FIX Dessert Chocolatier version from Dubai, according to Retail Wire. Trader Joe's version of the Dubai chocolate will reportedly be produced by Patislove, a food group brand that specializes in handcrafted chocolates. The original version, called the Pistachio Kataifi Chocolate Bar, is inspired by a traditional Middle Eastern dessert and features a creamy milk chocolate bar filled with pistachio cream, tahini and knafeh, a type of Middle Eastern shredded filo pastry. Advertisement New Africa – It appears that, as of no,w the candy will only be available in a dark chocolate version. Instagram account @traderjoesobsessed posted about the rumor drop, and some fans were disappointed to see that there was no milk chocolate option. 'Why did it have to be dark and not milk?' one asked. Advertisement 'I do wish there was a milk chocolate option. Is it just me, or does it seem TJ is fond of dark chocolate?' another wrote. Many also expressed their concern about the probability of long lines at Trader Joe's for the beloved confection. Christopher Sadowski However, a majority can't wait to get their hands on the Dubai chocolate. Advertisement 'Omg! Omg! Can't wait,' someone said. 'Love that it's dark chocolate,' a customer argued. 'Please delete this post! Please let's just make this a secret okkkk,' another wrote, hoping to gatekeep the candy. 'Omg I finally tried Dubai chocolate at a store and felt like the milk chocolate made it less better than it could have been. Hopefully this will change it!' another dark chocolate lover shared. 'Omg I can finally try it without spending a fortune?' another asked. @mariavehera257 @fixdessertchocolatier WOW, JUST WOW!!! Can't explain how good these are! Advertisement Walmart has the original imported bar from Dubai on its website, which goes for $35.90, and Nuts Factory, which has gone viral many times for the delectable treat, sells packs of 2 bars for $49.99. Meanwhile, Costco recently jumped on the trend as well, dropping a Dubai chocolate ice cream bar, blending pistachio ice cream with a chocolate shell laced with crunchy kataifi.

I tried M&S's new Big Daddy Pistachio - is it worth £8.50?
Dubai-style chocolate is a combination of milk chocolate, pistachio and kadayif pastry, with the first recipe for the trending treat created back in 2021 by Sarah Hamouda of FIX Dessert Chocolatier. The popularity of the chocolate flavour took off in 2024, going viral around the world on platforms including TikTok thanks to influencers like Maria Vehera. #foodsounds #dubai #dubaidessert ♬ оригинальный звук - mariavehera257 @mariavehera257 @fixdessertchocolatier WOW, JUST WOW!!! Can't explain how good these are! When a chocolate, a dessert and a piece of art meet this is what you get! 🍫 "Can't Get Knafeh of it," "Mind Your Own Busicoff," and "Crazy Over Caramel." Order on Instagram Chatfood or Deliveroo and let me know what's your FIX? Instagram : fixdessertchocolatier #asmr Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months, you will have noticed this chocolate craze has begun sweeping across the UK. Major retailers are now jumping on board the trend and releasing their own versions of the viral chocolate bar. Already, the likes of Lindt, Lidl and B&M have launched their own Dubai-style chocolate bars. Fans say M&S's Big Daddy Pistachio is "absolutely amazing 10/10" Then on Wednesday, M&S joined them, releasing The Big Daddy Pistachio chocolate bar. Fans were quick to share their excitement about the release, with an M&S Facebook post about the chocolate alone receiving more than 4,000 likes and nearly 3,000 comments (at the time of writing). One person, commenting on the M&S Facebook post, said: "TWO bought this morning! It's lovely." Another shopper wrote: "Il sack the diet to try this." A third person commented: "Oh my... have to buy 20 when I come from Portugal." Someone who was lucky enough to get their hands on a Big Daddy chocolate bar posted: "U nailed it ! What a mixture of Carmel , pistachio and a slightly nutty / salty taste ! "I didn't thought it could all work so well together ! Honestly beautiful taste ! I did never ever had anything alike !" Have you tried M&S's new Big Daddy Pistachio chocolate bar? (Image: Patrick Glover) While another added: "Absolutely amazing 10/10. "No comparison to the Dubai bar … this one's in a league of it's own !!" Is M&S's new Dubai-style chocolate bar worth the hefty price tag? Although shoppers were excited about the release of M&S's Dubai-style chocolate bar, some were concerned about the £8.50 price tag. One shopper said: "£8.50!!!!! And the bar rattles inside the cardboard. Absolute joke." While another commented: "Soooooo expensive." So I went out and bought one of M&S's Big Daddy Pistachio chocolate bars to put it to the test and see if it really is worth £8.50. The Dubai-style chocolate bar is delicious and I can see why shoppers across the UK have been describing it as "in a league of its own". The caramel is a fantastic addition to the pistachio and chocolate flavours already a part of the viral recipe. The Big Daddy Pistachio tastes amazing, but is it worth the price tag? (Image: Patrick Glover) You get a fair slab of chocolate too - 280g to be precise, but I found it weird you had to cut it up yourself, rather than it coming in breakable squares or rectangles. RECOMMENDED READING: I would definitely recommend trying The Big Daddy Pistachio from M&S at least once. It certainly lives up to the hype and is extremely delicious. However, I just can't justify the £8.50 price tag. No chocolate should cost that much. I would be happy to pay, say £3.50 for it, absolute maximum. The Big Daddy Pistachio is available now at M&S stores across the UK for £8.50.

Pistachio spread sales spike across UAE amid sustained ‘Dubai Chocolate' craze
Pistachio-based products have seen a dramatic rise in demand across the United Arab Emirates, driven by the viral 'Dubai Chocolate' social media trend, major retailers told Arabian Business. The phenomenon has transformed the nut butter market, with quick-commerce platform noon Minutes selling thousands of units within hours of launching pistachio products. 'We only launched our pistachio spread two months ago — and it took off instantly,' Saro Djerrahian, GM Commercial at noon Minutes, told Arabian Business. 'Within days, it became one of the most popular products across the platform.' has also reported significant growth in pistachio-related items, with demand peaking in the fourth quarter of 2024 and maintaining strong momentum into early 2025. 'Following the Dubai chocolate trend last year, we witnessed a significant upward trend in customer interest across pistachio-related products on said Rejo Thomas George, GCC Director of Consumables at The 'Dubai Chocolate' trend, which first gained traction in late 2023, was pioneered by Dubai-based entrepreneur Sarah Hamouda with her brand FIX. What began as a pregnancy craving for kunafa and pistachio flavours evolved into what many now call the 'Hermes of Desserts.' In an exclusive interview with Arabian Business last October, Hamouda revealed that her chocolate bars fusing Middle Eastern flavours with unique textures went viral after a TikTok influencer featured them in a video that garnered nearly 100 million views. @mariavehera257 @fixdessertchocolatier WOW, JUST WOW!!! 'I wanted people, from that first bite, to relive moments of their past.' The trend has since sparked numerous offshoots, with social media users creating Dubai Chocolate-inspired recipes including cookies, brownies, drinks, coffees and ice creams featuring the signature kunafa-pistachio combination that made the original viral sensation so popular. noon Minutes responded to growing consumer interest by developing products under its house brand 'The Big Daddy.' 'As the trend gained traction, we were among the first to launch it under noon Minutes' own brand — The Big Daddy — which has since expanded into ice cream, spreads, cakes, and even doughnuts,' Djerrahian said. The retailer has also partnered with several established food brands, including Krispy Kreme, Sugargram and Brod, to create collaborative products. has expanded its selection in response to the trend. 'Our assortment of pistachio-related products has expanded to include a wide selection of pistachio products, from spreads to nuts, chocolate, biscuits, and other confectionery items,' George said. Restaurants across the UAE and beyond have added Dubai Chocolate-inspired desserts to their menus, further cementing the trend's influence on the regional culinary landscape. The phenomenon comes despite unprecedented challenges in the global cocoa market, where prices surpassed $12,500 per metric ton in December 2024, representing a nearly 200 per cent increase since March 2023, according to a recent eToro report. 'While the UAE chocolate sector continues to thrive, manufacturers are under significant pressure to adapt pricing and product strategies in response to rising commodity costs and market fluctuations,' Josh Gilbert, Market Analyst at eToro, said in the report. The UAE chocolate market, valued at $736 million in 2024, has maintained its growth trajectory despite these challenges, with the Dubai chocolate trend emerging as a market highlight that has inspired product innovation across multiple categories. Sales data indicates pistachio spread is rapidly gaining market share against established competitors. 'Pistachio spread is quickly becoming a category disruptor — it's now one of our fastest-growing spreads and is already challenging long-time leaders like chocolate and hazelnut,' according to Djerrahian. Consumer behaviour suggests the product has transcended typical usage patterns. 'The spread has gone beyond breakfast — we've seen customers using it in everything from baking to gifting,' he added. To maintain momentum, noon Minutes has introduced seasonal variations for Ramadan, Halloween, Christmas and Diwali. Their newest product, called 'The Hairy Daddy,' features candy floss filling. The Dubai chocolate phenomenon has gained such momentum that it has led to purchase limits at high-end grocery chains abroad and queues at UAE retailers, the eToro report noted. In response to rising cocoa costs, chocolate brands in the UAE are focusing on premiumisation, flavour innovation, and smaller product formats—a strategy known as 'shrinkflation' where products decrease in size while prices remain stable or increase. Though social media food trends typically have short lifecycles, the pistachio spread boom shows signs of sustainable growth after maintaining its position over the past year. 'The sustained growth from 2024 into 2025 suggests this is more than just a temporary trend – it's becoming an established consumer preference in the UAE,' George said.

The best supermarket Dubai chocolate (and what to avoid)
The hottest chocolate in town is from Dubai. A doorstep-sized slab stuffed with an oozing mixture of ground pistachios, sesame paste and crisp shreds of an Arabic pastry called kadaif, it's the star of countless TikTok clips. Mostly these feature beautiful young women sitting in their cars and gazing into their phone cameras as they break the bars open with extravagantly manicured nails and stuff huge, messy chunks between their plump lips, licking their fingers with trembling frenzy. It's compelling viewing: are there wet wipes out of shot? Is this more calories than they have consumed all week? Will the oil stains ever come off of the cream calf-leather seats? The sweet sensation is the creation of British-Egyptian Sarah Hamouda of Fix Dessert Chocolatier, reportedly because she couldn't find anything to meet her pregnancy cravings. Named 'Can't Get Knafeh Of It', a play on knafeh, a sweet dish made with kadaif, her business sells five hundred bars a day. @mariavehera257 @fixdessertchocolatier WOW, JUST WOW!!! Hop on a plane: it's not available outside the UAE. But the rest of us can jump on the trend as the viral success of the videos has spawned plenty of home-grown versions. These have mostly been small-scale affairs sold via social media, but recently the big brands have started getting on board with the crunchy, nutty, green-filled chocolate bar. Lindt launched its 'Dubai-style chocolate' last month with Lidl following a week later. Aldi's ice-cream riff on the flavour is going in store on April 14, and no doubt there'll be plenty more to come. But how good are they? Most don't look the part, as the original is nearly an inch (2.5cm) thick, while the mainstream dupes aren't even close. For the opulent, over-the-top, shamelessly greedy effect of the Fix bar, you'll need to head over to Instagram to order from the likes of Dubai Chocolate London. That doesn't mean the ones that are more widely available aren't worth eating – most have a decent amount of real pistachio, unlike the ersatz sweet green 'pistachio flavour' we are more used to. Here's a round-up: no manicure required.
