Colts say they removed schedule-release video due to Tyreek Hill joke and Microsoft licensing
It's time to hang a new banner. The Colts abruptly pulled their 2025 schedule-release video on Wednesday night. Initially, we surmised that it had something to do with the depiction of Miami receiver Tyreek Hill as a dolphin that was arrested by the Coast Guard. It then became apparent that the Colts may have violate Microsoft IP rights by making their video a Minecraft spoof without the appropriate legal clearance. The Colts issued a statement on Wednesday confirming that both reasons drove the decision. Per the team: 'We removed our schedule release video because it exceeded our rights with Microsoft and included an insensitive clip involving Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill. We sincerely apologize to Microsoft and Tyreek.' The Chargers also did a Minecraft-based schedule release. It's clear from the early frames of the video that the Chargers that they secured proper permission from Microsoft.

You can now tour the Vatican's St. Peter's Basilica in Minecraft
In a world where kids are consistently glued to their screens and Minecraft rules the digital playground, the Vatican is stepping up its game - literally. Vatican officials have unveiled "Peter is Here", a Minecraft-based video game that lets players explore the wonders of St. Peter's Basilica, all while learning about its artwork and history. The game, developed in collaboration with Microsoft's Minecraft Education programme, is part of the Vatican's jubilee year project, aimed at introducing younger generations to the treasures of its cultural heritage. 'Essentially within the video game, it is a 3D representation, or 3D re-building of St. Peter's Basilica, so you have a character in the game and you can walk through the hallways and explore the entire building. You can interact with the art pieces, the statues and the mosaics, and you can learn the history of each of those" explained Allison Matthews, the head of Minecraft Education at a press conference on Tuesday 18 March. Cardinal Mauro Gambetti took a moment to reassure the media that the project had been well underway before Pope Francis was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia. "I imagine here, if Pope Francis were here, he would say you did well to think of this. Even the way in which he lives, the way he testifies to his faith right now says that our perspective is eternal and of eternity. So what we do now is proof that through fun we are in a certain sense, transported to another dimension." 'He's getting better,' Gambetti shared with a hopeful grin. 'We pray a lot and wait for him to come back. This is what we want." This is not the first time Minecraft has been used for educational purposes. Last year, UNITED24 recreated the famous Soledar salt mines within the game to spotlight Ukraine's ongoing conflict while raising crucial funds for the reconstruction of the Velyka Kostromka school, devastated by Russian attacks. A similar approach was taken in Fortnite by game designer Luc Bernard, who developed the platform's first educational Holocaust museum. This virtual museum allows players to explore key moments in history, from the efforts of Abdol Hossein Sardari - an Iranian diplomat who issued thousands of passports to Jews fleeing Nazi-occupied France - to the stories of LGBTQ+ Jews and the Black Panther tank battalion that helped liberate Jewish prisoners. Jewellery-making is one of the oldest art forms, passed down through generations. The National Museum of Kazakhstan showcases centuries of jewellery tradition, where pieces were not only decorative but also carried deep cultural and educational significance. Modern artisans have found ways to reimagine these traditions, shaping them to reflect contemporary Kazakh identity. While Berik Alibai is dedicated to preserving the ancient craft and passing it on, Meruert Orynbek creates bold, vibrant pieces that celebrate the national identity of Kazakh women. By striking a balance between heritage and modernity, both have transformed their craftsmanship into a thriving ethno-business.

Legoland Florida set to lay off 234 workers
Legoland Florida Resort has announced it will lay off more than 200 employees in the coming weeks. The bulk of those affected are entertainers at the Winter Haven theme park. According to a notice filed with Florida Department of Economic Opportunity, 234 Legoland workers will be permanently let go between March 25 and April 7. 'At Legoland Florida Resort we are making operational changes to help us elevate the guest experience in 2025 and beyond,' spokesperson Julie Estrada said. 'The decision to reduce the size of our entertainment team was undoubtedly difficult, but these changes will allow the resort to operate more flexibly and responsively in a competitive market.' The company did not provide details or additional reasons for the staff reduction. The notice, done in compliance with the federal Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, indicates that 174 of the positions are 'entertainment performers,' although stage managers, technicians and production workers are listed, too. Among the non-entertainment positions on the list are a director, sustainability manager, retail supervisor, resort operations manager and head of resort quality. Polk County's Central Florida Development Council listed the resort as having more than 1,500 employees as of October. In December, Legoland announced it was ending its water-ski show on Lake Eloise. Its final production was Dec. 30. The attraction was a nod to Cypress Gardens — once called the 'water ski capital of the world' — which operated on the property from 1936 to 2009. The Florida cuts come as the Winter Haven resort plans to add a Sea Life aquarium attraction this spring. It's under construction adjacent to the Legoland park and near its Peppa Pig Theme Park, which opened in 2022. Legoland Florida also operates three on-site hotels. Legoland is owned by Merlin Entertainments Group, which purchased Cypress Gardens for $22 million in 2010. Legoland Florida opened on the site in 2011. The attraction was retooled and refurbished, keeping some rides with new theming. Hundreds of Lego-based figures were added to the park. The original, historic gardens area has been maintained. Merlin, based in Britain, also operates the Orlando Eye, Madame Tussauds Orlando and Sea Life Orlando Aquarium on International Drive. Merlin runs dozens of attractions in Europe, Asia, Australia and the U.S., including Legoland parks in California and New York. Disney World sets closing date for MuppetVision 3D show In November, Merlin announced a deal with Mojang Studios to create real-life Minecraft-based attractions, although the locations were not identified. Later in November, Merlin CEO Scott O'Neil announced his resignation, and Chief Operating Officer Fiona Eastwood was chosen as interim CEO. In mid-January, O'Neil became CEO of LIV Golf, the Saudi-based tour, replacing former professional golfer Greg Norman. dbevil@
