Baghdad sends Iraqi delegation to Syria for oil pipeline and security
Baghdad ( – A high-level Iraqi delegation, led by Hamid al-Shatri, head of Iraq's National Intelligence Service, arrived in Damascus for official talks with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa and senior government officials.
The delegation includes representatives from Iraq's Ministries of Oil and Trade, the Border Ports Authority, and the Border Forces Command of the Ministry of Interior.
Key topics on the agenda include strengthening joint efforts to secure the shared border against threats and violations, increasing trade opportunities between the two neighboring nations, and exploring the potential restoration of the Iraqi oil pipeline through Syria to Mediterranean ports.
Under the direction of Iraq's Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, the Iraqi delegation is also expected to affirm Iraq's unwavering support for Syria's unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of Syrian stability for regional and Iraqi national security.
