T.N. CM Stalin distributes subsidy cheques to first-time Haj pilgrims
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Saturday (May 10, 2025) handed over cheques of ₹25,000 each to 10 first-time Haj pilgrims. A total of 5,650 eligible first-time Haj pilgrims in Tamil Nadu would receive the government subsidy this year.
According to an official press release, it was announced during the discussion on the demand for grants for the Department of Minorities Welfare that the subsidy for eligible first-time Haj pilgrims would be increased to ₹25,000 starting this year. Following this, the State government has allocated a total of ₹14.12 crore to provide the subsidy to 5,650 eligible pilgrims at ₹25,000 per person.
Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, Minister for Minorities Welfare and Non-Resident Tamils Welfare S.M. Nasar, Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam, and Chairman of the Tamil Nadu State Haj Committee P. Abdul Samad, were among others present.
