The book is the first Kannada title and the first-ever collection of short stories to be awarded the 50,000 pounds (about Rs 58 lakh) prize and is a collection of stories depicting struggles of Muslim women in Karnataka. "I was compelled to write. What else can I do? I cannot provide any relief to the women who approach me with their worries and sorrows… I wanted to document it and show it to the entire entire world," Banu told TOI.
