Tiny Love Stories: ‘A Wise Friend Warned Me About Divorce'
Misha's Raspberry Syrup Love tastes like the raspberry syrup Misha handmade the weekend after I was prescribed my first round of antipsychotics. We always went to Michigan to drink, among other things, and I feared that without that ice-cold handle of vodka from the freezer, our fun would be blunted like my brain those first few days on Risperdal. But when I was diagnosed, Misha muddled raspberries over the stove. In Michigan, she crafted us mocktails like the best friend I'd ever had. A movie lulled us to sleep, sober, together, unchanged. — Brittany Merrick Unexpected News In our 20s, my boyfriend and I played house in New York City. He was German; I'm Dominican. 'Mein schatz,' he called me, my treasure. Our contrasting backgrounds were a constant fascination. His visa expired. He returned home. Every six months, we met around the globe. Tired, I proposed settling down. He refused. Heartbroken, I blocked him. At 37, we reconnected through a friend for his 'life news' to share. 'I had a son,' he said. 'I named him after you.' I told him to take care of my name. 'He's a treasure,' he replied, 'like you.' — Emillio Mesa No Need for a Long List Before my father's birthday, I sat with my mother, a five-year dementia veteran, helping her write a birthday card. I suggested we make a list of the things she appreciated about him. Nice hair, silly jokes, the dependable hits. But when I got to No. 6, she cut me off with a small wave of her hand and said, 'That's enough, I think.' Five good things, apparently, was her limit. I chuckled. In the remaining space, she told me to write 'I will always love you,' a truth that needed no elaboration. — Annalise Inamine Between Past and Present Sitting in a stadium row between my past and present, I keenly sense two realities. My former husband, father of my four children, on my left and my current dear husband of 28 years on my right. My ex and I are the patriarch and matriarch of the tribe, attending our grandson's graduation. Our relationship is ancient history to our children and completely unknown to our grandchildren, yet it was everything for 22 years. A wise friend warned me about divorce and parenting back then. With children, it's never really over. We act accordingly. — Micki McWade See more Tiny Love Stories at Submit yours at Want more from Modern Love? Mudryk Spotted In Poland Ahead Of Chelsea vs Real Betis Conference League Final
Curated By : Vivek Ganapathy Last Updated: May 28, 2025, 15:43 IST Mykhailo Mudryk. (X) Premier League side Chelsea take on La Liga unit Real Betis in the final of the UEFA Conference League at the Estadio Municipal de Breslavia in Wroclaw, Poland on Thursday. Chelsea's 24-year-old Ukrainian player, Mykhailo Mudryk, who is facing a doping investigation, was spotted in Poland ahead of the championship fixture between the sides. Misha, as he is fondly known, hasn't featured for the side since December, when the news of the doping violation broke out. Neither the London side nor The FA have provided any updates on the progress of the case and the winger has maintained a low profile ever since. The update also came as news for Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca, who was informed of the same during the press conference ahead of the game. The Italian coach expressed his delight with the player having made the trip to Wroclaw for the game. 'To be honest, I just, I don't know. He's here, or he's coming?" the 45-year-old asked in reply to the reporters. 'He's here? I'm happy for Misha to be here. I don't know, just happy for Misha to be here," Maresca said. Mudryk, who arrived in London on a transfer in the surplus of the triple-digit million mark during the winter window of the 2023 campaign as the Ukrainian penned a eight and a half-year contract with the Blues. Swipe Left For Next Video View all Mudryk defended his position over the investigation stating that, 'I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon," back in December. Mudryk, however, stands to receive a medal from the final following his four group stage appearances for the club in the third-tier European tournament, in which he netted thrice for Chelsea. Chelsea coach startled as Mudryk is spotted in Poland ahead of Conference League final
Associated Press WROCLAW, Poland (AP) — Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca seemed as surprised as anyone when he was told Mykhailo Mudryk had been spotted in Poland ahead of the club's Conference League final against Real Betis. Mudryk, who became one of Chelsea's biggest signings when he arrived for $108 million in 2023, hasn't played since it emerged in December that he was facing a doping investigation. Until now, the Ukrainian winger has kept a low profile but photos and videos on social media appeared to show him posing with fans Tuesday while wearing a jacket with the Chelsea badge. 'To be honest, I just, I don't know. He's here, or he's coming?" Maresca said, glancing around in surprise when asked at his pre-game news conference what he thought of Mudryk being in Wroclaw ahead of Wednesday's game. "He's here? I'm happy for Misha (Mudryk) to be here. I don't know, just happy for Misha to be here.' Mudryk hasn't posted on social media since a statement about the case in December when he acknowledged an unnamed 'banned substance' had been found in a sample he'd given. 'I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon," he posted at the time. Neither Chelsea nor the English Football Association have provided any updates on the progress of the case since then. Mudryk could be awarded a medal from the Conference League final because he played in Chelsea's first four games of the league phase, scoring three goals. He scored in his most recent game, a 2-0 Conference League win over German club Heidenheim on Nov. 28. Mudryk signed an eight-and-a-half-year contract when he signed for Chelsea in Jan. 2023, keeping him at the club until 2031. ___ AP soccer: in this topic
