‘Believe in yourself': Connie Ferguson inspires Miss Universe Zim contestants

In a heartfelt message ahead of Miss Universe Zimbabwe's finale, South African actress Connie Ferguson has urged the contestants to hold on to faith, family, and self-belief. She emphasised that God, family, and community are 'the pillars that will hold you up' in a world that can often feel 'big and scary.' Connie joins the judging panel for the pageant, which takes place today (Saturday) in Harare. The South African screen icon arrived in Harare on Friday. Speaking to the media, Connie said she is happy to participate in this year's Miss Zimbabwe Universe pageant. 'It is an honour to be invited to come and participate in this year's choosing of Miss Universe Zimbabwe. It means a lot,' she said. She added that the Miss Zimbabwe Universe competition provides a huge opportunity for the young girls who enter it. 'To the girl child, believe in yourself, baby girl,' she said. 'This world can be so big and scary, but just be grounded and rooted in God…be grounded and rooted in family, be grounded and rooted in the community, because at the end of the da,y when you fall, those are the pillars that are going to hold you up.' All roads lead to the Harare Hippodrome, where nine finalists will contest for the Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2025 crown. As reported by The Herald , one contestant, Charlotte Muziri, had to withdraw ahead of boot camp due to a clash with the World Fashion Exhibition in France. This left a strong line-up of nine: Onesimo Nkomo, Samkhele Dhlamini, Charmaine Emmanuel, Chiedza Mhosva, Brenda Kadewe, Rumbidzai Muzopa, Annie Grace Mutambu, Talic Magaiza, and Lyshanda Moyo. A ctress and filmmaker Connie Ferguson has been announced as the guest judge for the Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2025 pageant. She will join a panel of six judges, including Miss Zimbabwe-Diaspora 2017 Roseanna Hall, prominent Pan African executive banker George Nheweyembwa, Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2023 Brooke Bruk Jackson, award-winning luxury travel content creator and blogger Paloma Mlunjwana, former supermodel Tsungai Makwanya and respected figure in the arts community Zak Hawa. The organisation described Ferguson as 'a true role model whose legacy inspires women across Africa'. She is a renowned actress, producer, filmmaker and businesswoman known for her role as Karabo Moroka on Generations and Harriet Khoza on The Queen . Ferguson and her late husband Shona produced shows including The Throne through their production company Ferguson Films. The 57-year-old is also a businesswoman in the lifestyle and self-care industry. The nine finalists will compete for the Miss Universe Zimbabwe title at Harare's Hippodrome on May 17 .

The Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2025 will be crowned this weekend. South African actress and entrepreneur Connie Ferguson has been announced as a guest judge and guest of honour at the Miss Universe Zimbabwe 2025 pageant. The crowning is this Saturday, 17 May, at the Hippodrome in Harare. Ferguson will join the judging panel to help crown the woman who will represent Zimbabwe at the 74th Miss Universe competition in Thailand this November. The Miss Universe Zimbabwe organisation said they were happy to have Ferguson as their guest.
