Who benefits by holding beauty contests, asks Harish Rao

Siddipet: Senior BRS leader T Harish Rao on Monday criticised the government, questioning why there is money for organising beauty contests but not for supplying seeds and fish seedlings. He demanded that the Chief Minister answer which section of people the beauty contests are meant to benefit. Rao, along with Legislative Council Deputy Chairman Banda Prakash, unveiled the statues of Panduga Sayanna and Korivi Krishna Swamy in Palamakula village of Nangunuru mandal. He emphasised that while unveiling statues is important, it is equally important to take inspiration from the lives of such personalities. Swamy, who was Hyderabad's first mayor, worked extensively for the Mudiraj community. Sayanna fought for the poor selflessly, sacrificing his life, becoming an inspiration for many. Constable Kishtayya sacrificed his life for the Telangana movement and is now remembered in history. Rao said former CM KCR had supported Kishtayya's family by ensuring his daughter received medical education and is now pursuing post-graduation. He stated that the BRS government connected tanks to projects through the Mission Kakatiya and built projects to fill water in them, which created livelihood for the Mudiraj community. In the united AP tanks and projects were neglected and the rightful share of the Krishna and Godavari river waters was denied. He claimed that under KCR's leadership, pending projects were completed and mega projects like Kaleshwaram executed. According to Rao, the KCR government spent Rs 1,000 crore to provide boats, autos and nets to the Mudiraj community. Every year, the BRS government spent Rs 120 crore to release free fish and prawn seedlings into tanks and projects. However, after the Congress came to power, even half tanks in the districts have not yet been stocked with fish seedlings. Even though June is approaching, the government is yet to call tenders for fish seedlings, showing its negligence towards the community. He warned that if fish seedlings are not released into tanks, the government will not be spared. He urged that livelihoods of the Mudiraj and fishermen communities must not be harmed. He accused the government of failing to supply both seeds and fish seedlings. Rao pointed out that tenders worth Rs 10,000 crore were called in the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board, Rs 7,000 crore in GHMC and Rs 20 crore in HMDA. He alleged that Revanth Reddy purchased lands in Future City and Rs 4,000 crore is being spent on a six-lane road. He questioned where all this money is coming from and accused the government of floating tenders worth Rs 1 lakh crore just to earn commissions, fill pockets and pay bribes to Delhi. He warned that people are watching all this and will teach them a lesson at the appropriate time. Rao highlighted that in Siddipet constituency, there is not a single village without a Pedamma temple or a Mudiraj community hall. He added that a Rs 10 crore AC function hall was constructed in Siddipet. He congratulated the Mudiraj community and youth of Palamakula for installing the two statues.

Surekha takes a swipe at BRS for ‘doctoring' facts

Hyderabad: Endowments Minister Konda Surekha on Friday said that her comments regarding ministers taking bribes was pertaining to the previous BRS regime and added that her comments were twisted and it was a clear case of cut and paste by the paid social media batch of BRS. Responding to the attacks by the BRS leaders, Konda Surekha said that there has been misleading propaganda regarding her comments made in Warangal on Thursday. 'I had talked about ministers during the BRS regime, who used to take money for doing any work and these were facts. They often used to demand payments for processing files, a truth that many are unaware of,' said Surekha. The BRS leaders were unable to digest the government working effectively hence the BRS paid batch was spreading negativity. 'The video circulating misrepresents my comments, selectively editing them to serve a narrative. This tactic aims to sow discord among our cabinet members, which is unacceptable. All ministers in our Congress government are performing exceptionally well, and our government employees recognise our capability in administration. The BRS party's strategy of disseminating fraudulent propaganda is evident. I cannot tolerate such deceit, and I will hold those people accountable,' said Surekha. The Minister recalled the comments of former minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, who had exposed the corruption associated with Mission Kakatiya, which he termed as 'Commission Kakatiya'. Furthermore, it was revealed by the BRS chief KCR that the MLAs were charging 30 per cent commission from the beneficiaries of Dalit Bandhu scheme. People have taught the BRS a lesson in the elections but still the opposition leaders were unable to learn from it.

BRS model symbolises graft, anarchy: BJP

Hyderabad: BJP Legislative Party leader Aleti Maheshwar Reddy has dubbed the BRS model as being synonymous with destruction, exploitation, corruption, undemocratic practices, anarchy, dictatorship, and family rule. Addressing the media here on Monday, he lashed out at the BRS and the Congress party for joining hands to spread false propaganda against the BJP. Maheshwar Reddy said the BRS chief and former chief minister K Chandrasekhara Rao's remarks and accusations during his public meeting speech were baseless. 'KCR was the one who destroyed Telangana since its formation,' he said. 'Despite spending Rs 150 crore, he could not even gather one lakh attendees. The BRS silver jubilee meeting was a complete failure. The people of Telangana are no longer inclined to believe KCR's words. They have no face value,' he added. Taking strong exception to KCR's stance on Maoists in Chhattisgarh—suggesting that Naxalites should be invited for talks—raises several questions, Aleti pointed out. He wondered why Maoists were not invited for talks by the BRS government and why there were several encounters during their rule. 'Do you only remember the Maoists now that you have lost power? Encounters also occurred when KCR was part of the Congress government in the undivided Andhra Pradesh,' he said. The BJP LP leader said that people cannot forget the 10-year anti-people policies and economic crimes during the KCR reign. There is widespread disenchantment with the BRS, he said. While the debt of the united Andhra Pradesh stood at Rs 70,000 crore, Telangana's debt has skyrocketed to Rs eight lakh crore since its formation. The Kaleshwaram project, costing lakhs of crores, has not provided additional water to even a single acre. It is not a lift irrigation project, rather a return irrigation project,' he alleged. 'According to the National Dam Safety Authority report, significant quality defects and design flaws were found in the construction of the Kaleshwaram project. Thousands of crores were spent under the Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya schemes, primarily benefiting contractors. Lakhs of crores were misappropriated through the Dharani portal, and valuable endowment and forest lands were alienated. The nine-and-a-half years of BRS rule have been detrimental to the people, who do not want such governance to continue. Both BRS, which garnered votes by claiming to have achieved Telangana state, and Congress, which now claims to bring in positive changes, have deceived the people,' Maheshwar Reddy claimed.
