2 women killed, 3 minors injured in Lafayette County crash

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two women were killed after a crash in Lafayette County on Saturday morning, the Mississippi Highway Patrol confirmed. At approximately 8:43 a.m., the MHP responded to a crash on Highway 30 in Lafayette County. A 2013 Ford Expedition, driven by a 44-year-old woman, was traveling east on Highway 30 when it collided with a 2015 Dodge Ram driven by a minor traveling west. The woman suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene. MS Dollar General catches fire The Mississippi Highway Patrol said the minor sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital. A 32-year-old woman also sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Two other minors suffered moderate injuries and were taken to the hospital. One dead following two-car crash in Union County

NEW ALBANY – A Union County man was killed in a two-car crash east of New Albany Wednesday morning. The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash on Highway 30 in the Keownville community in Union County on June 4 around 5:30 a.m. The preliminary investigation determined that Joshua N. Smith, 33, of New Albany, traveled west on Highway 30 in a 2014 Chevrolet Impala when it collided with the eastbound 2003 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Nathaniel E. Neal, 20, of Tupeloi. Smith received fatal injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene. This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) – The Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to five fatal crashes that occurred during the 2025 Memorial Day Holiday Travel Period. The travel period began Friday, May 23 and concluded on Monday, May 26. During the enforcement period, troopers issued a total of 5,857 citations, made 73 arrests for impaired driving and cited 592 drivers for occupant restraint violations. HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. (WGNO) — On Saturday, May 24, at 3:40 a.m., the Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a fatal crash on Highway 604 in Hancock County. According to the Highway Patrol, Howard Dawsey, 52, of Pearlington, Mississippi was traveling east on Highway 604 in a 2008 Toyota Tacoma when the vehicle ran off the road and collided with a tree. Lucedale resident killed in Memorial Day weekend crash

BILOXI, Miss. (WKRG) — A George County resident was killed over the weekend in a crash, has learned. Fairhope police investigate shooting in Rock Creek subdivision Troopers responded to a crash around 8:30 p.m. Saturday on Highway 613, according to a Mississippi Highway Patrol news release. A 2015 Chevrolet Express, driven by 57-year-old Tyler S. Merwin and occupied by a 52-year-old woman and four juveniles, all of Lucedale, Miss., was traveling south on Highway 613, according to the release. It reportedly collided with a northbound 2014 Ford F150, driven by a 20-year-old and carrying a 20-year-old passenger, both of Moss Point, Miss. Merwin was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman and one of the juveniles were taken to the hospital with injuries, the release said.
