One charge dropped against accused southwest Missouri child services caseworker

McDonald County prosecutors originally charged Emily Flatt with evidence tampering and hindering prosecution last November after two teenage girls were accused of plotting to kill their foster parents. The charge of hindering prosecution was dropped during Wednesday's hearing. Flatt is a case manager with Missouri Baptist Children's Home and was assigned to the say she was in possession of a note the teens reportedly wrote that included the location of a hidden knife and a Coke bottle laced with bleach or some unknown substance to be used in the murder plot. Officers say Flatt told them she had the note—then changed her story and denied actually having it. She will be back in court in February. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
