Owner Christopher Pineda says that impact is limited to certain items for now but expects that could expand before conditions level out. Other stores like Fox Farm Food say they're preparing for changes but have not seen any yet. 'We have not, as of yet, we expect that to change, of course, but we're just going to try to weather the storm. Just try to, you know, keep prices the same through it all. Hopefully it will balance out, get fixed,' said Tim Spry, Fox Farm Store Mgr. 'Some products that come straight from Mexico, or like the dairy or meat, or like hand sausages that come like specific brands come straight from Mexico. Yeah, the price has been up, like, a little bit, like, 3%,' said Christopher Pineda, Pineda Market Owner. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Drive to recall Joplin City Council member gains momentum
JOPLIN, Mo. — The drive to recall a Joplin City Council member has officially turned in the first batch of petitions. Of those, 86 met petition requirements that they live in Joplin city limits and are registered to vote. The recall will need about 6,700 signatures to make it to the ballot, something that hasn't happened very often in Jasper County. 'I have been County Clerk; this is my seventh year. And out of 24 different elections, we've only had two recalls that we've run, one that we've run and one that's being filed right now,' said Jasper County Clerk Charlie Davis. The recall effort started last week after a group of local voters objected to statements posted by Jackson regarding gender dysphoria. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Be cautious: Severe weather risks for lake-goers and boaters
(KSNF & KODE) — Before you know it, lakes all across the Four State region will be filling with weekenders and summer vacationers. Massive transformation readies Route 66 site for community events Firefighters respond to house fire in west Joplin Rezoning for homeless housing in Joplin Missouri Job Center helps grads make smooth transistion into the job market Wind records shattered: Four States see gusts above historical averages Every year, the arrival of the warmer weather makes conditions prime for boat rides, inner tubing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, fishing and more. A unifying factor in all lake and boat related activities, though, is knowing to keep an eye out for severe weather. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reminded in a Facebook post Wednesday that boaters and lake-goers should ALWAYS be keeping an eye on the sky and watching for any sudden changes in the weather, as they can be sudden and swift. Missouri Highway Patrol officials state the safest place a person can be on the lake in the event of severe weather is the shore, and that boaters should go ashore as soon as they notice a concerning weather change like dark, rolling clouds or lightning. They also emphasize the necessity of lifejackets, especially during rough conditions. Statistics show the vast majority of fatal boating related incidents occur when the deceased was not wearing a lifejacket. Missouri Job Center helps grads make smooth transistion into the job market
JOPLIN, Mo. — Graduation is just around the corner, and for many students, that means finding a job. 'There are a lot of kids that are going to be graduating right now. So the market is going to be flooded with individuals who are applying for different types of positions.' That's why Pam Regan with the Missouri Job Center in Joplin says it's important to get a head start on the process – especially for first-time job seekers and high school graduates. 'If they've never had a job before, we have a work experience program, so we can get them connected with an employer and gain that work experience so they have something to put on that resume,' said Regan. 'For recent graduates in post-secondary education, they can come in, utilize our computers, set up an account with us, get their resumes online,' said Regan. Regan says once you've signed in and completed your resume — the system puts your resume on future employers' radars. 'Employers that are looking for your skill set can see that resume and then they can contact you directly. It also gives you an opportunity to search for employers that are hiring in your career field.' Once a graduate has passed that part of the process — it's time to prepare for interviews — which she says can be the most nerve-wracking part. 'They can call in. Somebody can sit down and kind of work with them to, you know, get over those nerves because interviewing is hard.' The center also offers a variety of orientations to hone skills. 'Having that skill set that we can help them gain will help just make them more employable once they do get to that employer in that interview.' Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
