Goth Icon Elvira Haunts Meghan Markle With Hair Clapback
/ May 27, 2025, 05:20PM IST The Mistress of the Dark just cast a stylish spell—and Meghan Markle's caught in it. Elvira, the horror icon, clapped back after Meghan compared herself to the goth legend during a 2020 boxed dye disaster she mentioned on her podcast. Markle said she ended up looking 'Elvira-esque' while trying to color her hair in lockdown. She reached out to celebrity stylist Serge Normant, who sent hair guru Kadi Lee to fix the inky mess at her temporary California home. All seemed forgotten, until Elvira spotted the quote and fired off a shady Instagram post: 'Hey princess, need beauty advice?' The internet erupted, with many calling Elvira the 'true royal icon.' Meghan hasn't responded, but the podcast clip is now viral, and fans are living for the drama.

The Onion's Exclusive Interview With Lady Gaga
This month Lady Gaga released Mayhem , her seventh studio album. The Onion sat down with the artist and actor to discuss songwriting, self-care, and what's next. The Onion : What was the creative impetus for this record? Gaga: I have always been fascinated by the concept of dancing around on stage in an insane hat. The Onion : How do you keep your voice in such great shape after all these years? Gaga: Every six months I undergo a transplant of fresh vocal cords harvested from a young L.A. vagrant. The Onion : Were you bothered by the negative reaction to Joker: Folie à Deux ? Gaga: No, as I've gotten older and more mature I've learned to accept when something is just an irredeemable piece of shit. The Onion : Who are your biggest style influences? Gaga: Elvira, Mistress of the Dark and Flik from A Bug's Life . The Onion : What keeps you up at night? Gaga: The threat of a 10% tariff on latex. The Onion : Why do you call your fans 'little monsters'? Gaga: I find each and every one a threat to my personal safety. The Onion : After our last interview, you borrowed some Tupperware to take home leftovers from the photo shoot. Can we have it back? Gaga: No, sorry. I'm using it to hold soil and oats for cultivating mealworms. The Onion : What's next for you? Gaga: I'm going to find out where electricity comes from.

Florence Pugh stuns at London Fashion Week in gothic sheer dress: See the photo
Florence Pugh stuns at London Fashion Week in gothic sheer dress: See the photo High-top sneakers, baggy jeans, a fitted cap — everyone has their fashion favorites. And for Florence Pugh, sheer is her faithful go-to. The British actress stole the show at London Fashion Week on Thursday in an all-black gauzy frock, which she wore to the opening of Harris Reed's autumn/winter show. Pugh, who walked the runway for the British American designer's eponymous label, rocked the gothic look, which amounted to the high fashion equivalent of Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. The dress's tight-fitting, sheer base was overlaid by a tastefully gaudy bodice and a chic hood that framed Pugh's face. "I feel like we're the lucky ones that get to see @harris_reed create in realtime," Pugh wrote on Instagram Friday. "It was an honour to open your show for #LFW, I'm so proud of you and what you've done. Thank you from all of us for creating bold beauty, constantly." In recent years, Pugh has shown a penchant for sheer fashion, even sparking controversy by unapologetically donning see-through looks. In July 2022, the Oscar-nominated actress caused a stir after she wore a sheer, hot pink tulle dress — sans a bra — to Valentino's haute couture fashion show in Rome, Italy. "Listen, I knew when I wore that incredible Valentino dress that there was no way there wouldn't be a commentary on it," Pugh wrote in a lengthy Instagram post at the time. "It has always been my mission in this industry to say 'f--- it and f--- that' whenever anyone expects my body to morph into an opinion of what's hot or sexually attractive." 'It is really exhausting': Florence Pugh pushes back against body shaming The following year, Pugh went for a sartorial sequel at Valentino's Paris Fashion Week show, where she wore a flowy, lavender dress, which left her breasts visible through the gossamer fabric. The "We Live in Time" star opted for a more modest, semi-sheer Valentino dress at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards. In an August 2023 interview with Elle UK, Pugh reflected on the backlash she's received for her fashion choices, as well as her continued motivation to wear daring ensembles. "Unfortunately, we've become so terrified of the human body that we can't even look at my two little cute nipples behind fabric in a way that isn't sexual," Pugh said. "We need to keep reminding everybody that there is more than one reason for women's bodies (to exist)." Contributing: Naledi Ushe and KiMi Robinson, USA TODAY
