MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) — A Guatemalan man has been sentenced for illegally reentering the United States after having been deported. During that stop, officers suspected Tecum-Tecum was not a U.S. citizen and reached out to the United States Border Patrol. He was also ordered to pay $100 in special assessments. Tecum-Tecum will be referred to immigration officials to begin deportation proceedings. The case is part of Operation Take Back America, a nationwide initiative that uses the full resources of the Department of Justice to reduce the number of illegal immigrants entering the country, eliminate cartels and transnational criminal organizations and protect communities from violent crime criminals, the release said. Mobile, Ala. – (WKRG) – Kids who want to find out more about what sheriff's deputies do will get the chance at Camp Explorer. McGregor Avenue at Dauphin Street to close soon — what to know Camp Explorer is a partnership between Mobile County Schools and the Mobile County Sheriff's Office, created in an effort to foster a positive relationship between the sheriff's office and children ages 8 to 12. Children will have two opportunities to participate in the three-day camp, with one scheduled June 10-12 in Semmes, and another scheduled June 24-26 in Theodore. Each day will begin at 8 a.m. and end at 4 p.m. Participants must live in Mobile County, and each child can only attend one camp. The cost is $50 and participants need to bring a lunch with them each day. Each camp is limited to 100 kids, so register early. The 56-year-old female teacher was charged with aggravated child abuse after her student, who was in her care at Collins-Rhodes Elementary School in Prichard, told detectives with the Mobile County Sheriff's Office that she received a drink from her teacher that made her feel sick, WALA and WPMI reported. The allegations against the teacher came up when the student's parents took her to the hospital on April 28 after they picked her up, and she was extremely ill, Mobile County sheriff's deputies told the TV stations. The teacher pleaded not guilty on May 27 after waiving arraignment, according to court documents, per WKRG. In a statement obtained by WMPI, the Mobile County Public School System said: "We take all allegations seriously. The teacher was placed on administrative leave when this allegation was first made. A juvenile was arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that killed a 19-year-old and injured an 18-year-old, Alabama deputies said, according to Deputies responded to shots fired at about 2 a.m. May 11, outside of a graduation party for a student at Citronelle High School, the Mobile County Sheriff's Office said, WKRG reported. The shooting happened during an argument in a cul-de-sac where a group of people had moved to after the party ended, authorities said, according to the outlet. Jaylon Rivers, 19, and Zachary Morgan, 18, were shot, deputies said. 'During the altercation, Rivers allegedly fired multiple shots at the juvenile, who then returned fire, striking Rivers,' the sheriff's office said, reported. Morgan was taken to a hospital, and Rivers was taken to a home in Mount Vernon, where he died, deputies said, WALA reported. The juvenile, who was not named, was arrested May 16 on felony murder and first-degree robbery charges, according to the outlet. McClatchy News reached out to the Mobile County Public School District May 19 but did not receive an immediate response. Law enforcement officials were at the high school May 12 'out of an abundance of caution,' according to a Facebook post by the school. Rivers, a father of a girl, was remembered as having a 'caring nature' and a 'dedication to looking out for others,' according to an online memorial. 'Jaylon's spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those he leaves behind, reminding us all of the joy and love he brought into our lives,' the memorial said.

(WKRG) — A juvenile was arrested on May 16 in connection with a deadly shooting that happened May 11 after a graduation party in Citronelle, according to the Mobile County Sheriff's Office. Mobile man killed in crash: ALEA Officials have identified the victims as a 19-year-old, Jaylon Rivers, and an 18-year-old, Zachary Morgan. According to MCSO officials, deputies were called to Tom Hopkins Road on May 11 around 2 a.m. for a shooting. When they arrived, they found that after a graduation party, a group of people had moved to the cul-de-sac, where an argument broke out and the two teens were shot. Morgan was taken to a hospital for treatment, while Rivers was taken by personal vehicle to a home on Wiggins Fork Road in Mount Vernon, where he died. The juvenile who was arrested is charged with felony murder and first-degree robbery.
