Court sends 3 to custody for assault on policemen
New Delhi: A Delhi court, while remanding three men to 14 days of judicial custody, observed that the prosecution's account presented a disturbing picture of lawlessness and a brazen assault on police personnel in uniform. Judicial magistrate Nidhi Singh, on May 25, noted that the accused even assaulted police officers while being escorted to a police booth, reflecting sustained and repeated defiance of authority and use of violence against law enforcement. "The prosecution's narrative, as encapsulated in the FIR and reiterated by the IO, paints a disturbing picture of lawlessness and brazen assault on uniformed police personnel in the line of duty," the court said. Delhi Police had sought custody of Manish Nagar, Shashikant Sharma, and Tushar, who were arrested for allegedly assaulting four police officers. According to prosecution, on May 23 at Green Park Market, a Mahindra Thar carrying the accused obstructed a Skoda driven by a lone woman, wrongfully restraining her and triggering a traffic jam. When police personnel, including head constable Anuj Tomar and constable Mohan Lal, intervened and asked the accused to clear the road, they allegedly refused. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Roar into Style! In a contemptuous act, the police uniform of ASI Umesh was torn," the court noted. The prosecution sought custody citing potential witness influence, absconding co-accused, and the gravity of the offence as an attack on the state's law enforcement. The court noted that CCTV footage presented by the investigating officer (IO) prima facie supported the prosecution's claims. It also reviewed medico-legal case (MLC) reports. Head constable Tomar, present in court, had a visible fresh black eye and orbital injury, providing immediate and observable corroboration of the alleged assault.

Vehicle theft racket busted: 2 Vidisha men arrested in Bhopal, 15 bikes worth Rs 10 lakh recovered
Image used is for representational purposes only BHOPAL: In a major crackdown on vehicle theft, Nishatpura police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two notorious bike thieves and recovered 15 stolen two-wheelers worth around Rs10 lakh from their possession. The accused were found to be hiding stolen bikes in forest areas and selling them in rural regions after changing their number plates. According to police, the arrests were made following a tip-off that two suspicious youths were roaming around the Karond vegetable market area on a motorcycle with no registration number, likely with the intent to commit theft. Acting on the information, a special police team conducted a cordon operation and detained the suspects. The accused were identified as Zahid Khan and Shivraj Ahirwar, both residents of Vidisha. When asked for documents of the motorcycle, they failed to provide any. A verification through the VDP (Vehicle Data Portal) revealed that the bike was reported stolen nearly 10 months ago from Jail Road. Subsequent interrogation revealed that the accused stole multiple bikes from various areas of Bhopal, including Nishatpura, Piplani, Teela Jamalpura, Gautam Nagar, Sukhi Sewania, Kolar, Eintkhedi, and Ashoka Garden. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Roar into Style! Steve Kerr hints at disturbing pattern emerging in NBA while explaining Stephen Curry's injury
Steve Kerr hints at disturbing pattern emerging in NBA while explaining Stephen Curry's injury (Image Credit: Getty Images) Steve Kerr shared an eye-opening reality about NBA games, which could have led to Stephen Curry's injury. The coach talked at length about the NBA calendar and the way it is affecting the veteran roster of the teams, including that of the Golden State Warriors. Stephen Curry suffered a hamstring injury in Game 1 of the Western Conference semi-finals while playing against the Minnesota Timberwolves. Steve Kerr made a shocking claim about factors leading to Stephen Curry's injury The NBA calendar is insanely packed and is taking a toll on old players' fitness. If words of Steve Kerr are to be believed, it is the sad reality of NBA players. While talking about the factors that led to Stephen Curry's injury and the major role it played in the Golden State Warriors' run in the playoffs, coach Steve Kerr looked quite displeased with the NBA schedule. He put the blame for the Warriors' pivot's injury on the NBA's schedule, clamored with the games, and told the Yahoo Sports reporter: 'Who's more likely to be able to withstand the rigors of the pace and space and the game-every-other-day schedule — the younger players or the older players? The younger guys are.' Steve Kerr on Steph Curry Injury & Game 1 Win vs Timberwolves, FULL Postgame Interview Talking further about the disturbing pattern emerging in the NBA's schedule, he said: 'The most important point of all of this is the pace and space and how much more mileage that players are covering. You see all these injuries ... I don't think players get enough rest anymore.' Kerr's claims emerge from an in-depth analysis provided by the team's director of sports medicine and performance, Rick Celebrini, who shared his views on the matter. His opinion was: 'If he (Stephen Curry) had an extra day or two … we can't prove this, but I have no doubt based on our understanding of the scientific literature that the hamstring injury was the result of inadequate recovery and fatigue.' by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Roar into Style! Stephen Curry suffered a hamstring injury for first time during Game 1 of Western Conference Semifinals The Golden State Warriors were playing Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves on May 6. The game took a tumultuous turn when Stephen Curry had to be escorted off the court in the second quarter. Later, on analysis, his injury was confirmed as a Grade 1 left hamstring strain. Golden State Warriors Clutch Moments of the 2024-25 Regular Season Stephen could not play from Game 2 to Game 5, and by the time he returned, the Golden State Warriors had lost their race to the finals. Several media outlets reported the injury to be a result of overexertion and fatigue. Power outage hits Gabonese capital
AI- Generated Image Gabon's capital Libreville was without electricity for several hours Wednesday following a "major technical incident", the national energy supplier said. The early morning power outage "resulted in the loss of all production facilities in the Libreville Interconnected Network (RIC)", the Gabonese Water and Energy Company (SEEG) said without giving further details. SEEG said it had managed to restore power to around half of its customers in the capital "by early morning", adding its teams were working to find and analyse the fault, which AFP reporters said also cut internet and mobile phone coverage. On Monday, the Gabonese presidency had announced the end of an interim administration of SEEG started in August on the back of a slew of supply cuts. As of Wednesday, "management of SEEG will be fully transferred" and it will return to its majority shareholder, the Gabonese Strategic Investment Fund (FGIS), the company stated. For several months last year, electricity supply was disrupted due to significant infrastructure problems. A rotating load shedding system was established leading to supply cuts in entire neighbourhoods for hours at a time, to enable power supply for other parts of the city. A protocol signed between the Gabonese government and Turkish firm Karpowership for supply of 70 megawatts via two floating power plants to cover greater Libreville saw the situation improve in recent months. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Roar into Style!
