Andhra Pradesh government inks MoU with Schneider Electric India Foundation to train youth for jobs in electronics and construction

The State government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Schneider Electric India Foundation to strengthen skill development infrastructure and prepare a workforce for emerging sectors such as electronics, construction and green energy. The MoU was signed between the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) and Schneider Electric India Foundation in the presence of Minister for Human Resource Development, Electronics and IT Nara Lokesh in Amaravati on May 5 (Monday). Mr. Lokesh said the collaboration reaffirms Andhra Pradesh's commitment to bridging the skill gap and preparing its youth for the industries of the future. As part of the MoU, 20 advanced training labs would be established in government Industrial Training Institutes, polytechnic colleges, and NAC training centres between April 2024 and March 2027, according to a press release from the department. All labs would be equipped with electrical systems, solar energy solutions and industrial automation equipment. More than 9,000 youth are expected to be trained in alignment with industry requirements and global standards and placement support would be provided to successful candidates, according to the release. The training centres are at nine government ITIs in Araku, Rajahmundry (Girls), Narsipatnam, Nuziveedu, Ongole (Boys), A.S. Peta, Karvetinagaram (Girls), Kadapa (Minorities), Srisailam; 7 Government Polytechnics in Srikakulam, Guntur, Anantapur, Chandragiri, Nandyal, Gannavaram, Ongole and in NAC centres. While Schneider Electric India Foundation would invest around ₹5 crore in training equipment, consumables, digital materials, and Training of Trainers (ToT) programmes, APSSDC would provide infrastructure and mobilise students for the programmes. As per the request of Mr. Lokesh, the Foundation has also agreed to establish a Centre of Excellence in Mangalagiri for industry-aligned certification programmes, a Research and Innovation Centre in Anantapur to foster advanced applied research with academia and industry and Modern Power Optimisation Pilot Project in Alluri Sitharama Raju district to serve as a model for efficient energy management and sustainable power solutions, the release said.
