#SHOWBIZ: Pioneer Malaysian Indian thrash metal band honoured to rock with Amuk, Cromok
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's first Indian thrash metal band RPGIO is "most honoured" to share the big stage with iconic rock bands Amuk and Cromok at 9pm this Saturday (April 26).
Its founder, producer and manager K. Mogan said in a statement yesterday that they were looking forward to perform alongside two "titans" of thrash metal at Konsert Kasi Gegar held at the N9 Arena in Nilai, Seremban.
"As a band that pushes boundaries and breaks barriers in the local metal scene, we welcome this milestone and new chapter which is a first not only for us but the entire Malaysian Indian music community," he said.
RPGIO was founded in 2003 by Mogan, also known as Joe with an original lineup comprising drummer Bern, bassist Loga, vocalist Yogesh, and Francis and himself as guitarists.
RPGIO is signed under the iStudio label, which supports their musical journey and productions.
The band released their first single THR in 2007 composed for radio station THR Raaga.
Their first Tamil single Silky Sista written by Mogan was released three years later.
RPGIO now comprises John Zi (vocals), Dhieran (guitar), Nemo (bassist), Mohan Joel (drummer) and Francis (guitar).
In August last year the band came up with Varudhu Metal, a collaboration with Sam of Cromok.
Cromok has been rocking Malaysians for 34 years while Amuk has been around for 27 years.
