Palestinian Prime Minister: Baghdad Summit to Deliver Decisive Outcomes on Gaza
Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Abdullah Mohammad Mustafa said on Friday that the Baghdad Summit is expected to produce decisive resolutions aimed at ending the war in Gaza and advancing the establishment of a Palestinian state. He emphasized the need to exert pressure on the Zionist entity to lift the siege and allow the entry of humanitarian aid.
Speaking ahead of the summit, Mustafa described Baghdad as a capital with deep-rooted Arab cultural and political significance, and emphasized the importance of the summit's agenda, which he said addresses issues of regional and international concern — foremost among them the Palestinian cause.
'The Baghdad Summit will prioritize Gaza, and we expect resolute decisions that will aid in ending the conflict and expediting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state,' he said.
He expressed hope that the summit would build on outcomes from the Cairo Summit, particularly concerning the ceasefire and Gaza's reconstruction. He also noted that preparations are underway for an international donor conference set to be held in New York in June.
'The situation in Gaza is catastrophic — tens of thousands of lives lost, over 200,000 wounded, and a continued blockade preventing the flow of humanitarian assistance,' Mustafa said. 'There must be unified Arab pressure to compel the Zionist entity to lift the siege and allow the urgent delivery of aid.'
