KUNA chief and Indian envoy discuss boosting media cooperation
KUWAIT: Acting Director General of Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) Mohammad Al-Mannai held talks on Wednesday with the Ambassador of the Republic of India to Kuwait, Dr Adarsh Swaika, to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation in the media sector. During the meeting, held at KUNA headquarters, both sides affirmed the pivotal role of media in strengthening bilateral relations and advancing them to broader horizons. They underscored the importance of the media in fostering closer ties between the leaderships and peoples of the two friendly nations, which share longstanding historical relations.
The discussions highlighted the significance of exchanging expertise between KUNA and Indian media institutions and expanding joint cooperation through training programs. This comes in light of existing cooperation protocols between KUNA and several Indian news and media agencies. The talks also touched on the agency's professional standards and objective coverage of news events through its network of correspondents and international offices, particularly in India. Ambassador Swaika commended KUNA's balanced and credible journalistic approach and its contribution to projecting Kuwait's stance on regional and international issues. The Indian envoy reiterated his country's keenness to strengthen its multifaceted ties with Kuwait, particularly in the media domain, as a means to further deepen the historical and strategic partnership between the two nations.
