By John Lee.
The Samarra-based General Company for the Manufacture of Medicines and Medical Supplies, a subsidiary of Iraq's Ministry of Industry and Minerals, has announced the successful local production of "Glimee-M" (GLIMEE-M) tablets, marking its first-ever manufacture of this oral medication used to treat type 2 diabetes.
According to the company's Director General, Chemical Engineer Mohammed Abdulqader Al-Nuaimi, a total of 250,000 tablets were produced following intensive research and development by the company's technical teams. Clinical tests of the newly developed drug have demonstrated therapeutic efficacy comparable to imported alternatives.
Al-Nuaimi noted that the manufacturing process adhered to the latest international standards, using high-quality raw materials from reputable sources and advanced packaging techniques. He added that registration procedures have commenced with the Ministry of Health, ahead of commercial release to the domestic market.
