The rallies took place in various squares, including the Prophet's Birthday Square in the city center, Martyr Leader Square in Khulan Amer, and squares in Aru, Jum'at Bani Bahar, Dhuhaib in Haydan, Sha'ara, Al-Hajla, Bani Siyyah, Banlaqm in Razih, Rubu' Al-Hudud, Jawf City, Bani 'Abbad, Wuld Amr in Majz, Al-Jarsha in Ghamr, Qatabir District Center, Al-Jafra, 'Adhla, Al-Sahlayn, Al-Hajr in Al Salim, Al-Khamis, Al-Muqni' in Munabbih, Shada Square, Kitaf District Center, Amlah, Al-'Aqiq, Yasnam in Baqim, Rahmania and Baqama in Ghamr, Ghafira, Wadi Layh, Bani Sa'd, Walba, Bani Dhal, Qays, Al-'Awsha in Al-Dhahir District, and Madhab in Al-Safra. Participants reaffirmed their unwavering support for Gaza and its heroic mujahideen, regardless of the criminal American escalation against Yemen. They emphasized their steadfast, faith-driven stance in backing the Palestinians and continuing the struggle until the aggression on Gaza ceases and the siege is lifted. During the rally at the Prophet's Birthday Square, Sa'ada Governor Mohammed Awad praised the massive public turnout in solidarity with Gaza and Palestine, stressing the need to counter American escalation with greater resolve. He called on Muslim nations to loudly denounce Jews and Christians, boycott American and Israeli products, and entrench such actions as jihad against the enemies of God and humanity. A statement issued by the Sa'ada marches declared that, in continuation of Yemen's honorable stance in support of the oppressed Palestinians and in response to U.S. aggression, the Yemeni people today mobilized in million in obedience to Allah Almighty, striving in His cause, and seeking His pleasure. The statement reaffirmed "steadfastness in our unwavering Qur'anic and faith-based stance in supporting our brothers in Gaza. We will not allow them to be isolated by the enemies, nor will we stand by as mere spectators. Rather, we will continue our sacred jihad against the criminals of the earth—the leaders of disbelief, America and Israel—with full determination until the aggression against them ceases and the siege is lifted." Addressing the "American and Zionist enemies," the statement declared: "In vain, you attempt to sway our position and turn us away from our faith, hoping to make us disbelievers and hypocrites. Know that we will never retreat after answering Allah's call, nor will we accept humiliation or surrender after the honor of jihad. Your aggression against us has been thwarted by Allah at the hands of His mujahideen, who rely solely on Him. Now, your only aim is to commit murderous crimes against civilians or target their livelihoods—after failing to weaken our military strength. But this, too, will never break us. You know us better than anyone, and your past attempts have ended in failure. Understand that, by Allah's power, we stand ready to confront you and every hypocrite who aligns with you. Allah will grant us great victories, for triumph comes only from Him." The statement paid "tribute of honor, reverence, and admiration to our brothers in Gaza for their astonishing resilience and inspiring patience, despite immense sacrifices and unparalleled suffering." It also saluted "the heroic resistance fighters with pride and loyalty, who continue to battle with unshakable resolve despite prolonged hardship and scarce resources." Finally, the statement called for "sustained and vigorous mobilization, tribal solidarity protests, and all activities in support of the Palestinians—including an intensified economic boycott." It urged "boycotting any merchant who refuses to shun American or Israeli goods, as such traders contribute to funding the airstrikes that kill us and the people of Gaza." Israeli military expands ground operations in Gaza City
The Israeli military has since embarked on a major bombing campaign and seized territory in Gaza in a tactic that Israeli officials have said was intended to compel Hamas to release more hostages. Advertisement As the Israeli military operation expanded, Hamas's military wing on Friday appeared to threaten the remaining Israeli and foreign hostages held in Gaza. In a statement that did not mention the plight of its own people, Hamas said its fighters were holding some captives in the evacuation zones under 'strict security measures that are extremely dangerous to their lives.' The armed group has in the past threatened the well-being of hostages in the face of Israeli bombardments. Advertisement The military said its recent campaign had dismantled weapons infrastructure, including a Hamas command and control center and killed militants, including Mohammed Awad, who it described as a senior military commander in the Palestinian Mujahideen. The military said Awad had taken part in Hamas-led attacks on Oct. 7, 2023, and was 'likely personally involved in the abduction and brutal murders of Shiri, Ariel and Kfir Bibas,' though it did not explain how it had come to that conclusion. Shiri Bibas and her two young children became symbols for many Israelis of their suffering on Oct. 7, 2023, when about 1,200 people were killed and about 250 abducted to Gaza. Avichay Adraee, the military's Arabic-language spokesperson, said in a post late Thursday on social media that he was providing a 'final' warning before a new attack, urging people to relocate southward. Adraee suggested that militant groups were operating among civilians. While many people have complied with such evacuation orders from the military during the most recent Israeli campaign, others have chosen to stay in their homes or shelters, saying they could not bear being displaced or that they have nowhere else to go. On Friday, the military said its troops began operating in the neighborhood of Shajaiye in eastern Gaza City in order 'to expand the security zone,' referring to what it has characterized as a buffer zone next to Israel's border with Gaza. During the first 15 months of war, much of Shajaiye was transformed into a wasteland as the Israeli military fought Hamas, with buildings demolished, roads ripped up and utilities infrastructure ruined. Palestinian health authorities — who do not distinguish between civilians and combatants — said the bodies of 27 people killed in the Tuffah strike had arrived at the hospital. Advertisement Multiple videos verified by The New York Times show an explosion and its chaotic aftermath at the Dar al-Arqam school, where civilians were sheltering. The strikes were followed by a chaotic scene at Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza City, where dust-covered and bloodied children were rushed from vehicles. Khamis Elessi, a volunteer doctor at the hospital, said successive waves of wounded people arrived in the emergency room, overwhelming medical staff. 'It was a terrifying scene,' he said in phone interview. 'People were thrown on the ground.' Elessi, 56, said he was stunned by the number of wounded children. 'I was brought to tears,' he said. 'One boy kept asking me: Why did they hit me?' One of those killed was the grandson of Khalil al-Hayya, Hamas's top negotiator based in Qatar, the Hamas-run Al Aqsa TV channel reported. Israel has previously targeted schools being used as shelters, contending that Hamas militants were operating command centers in them. Hamas has denied such claims in the past. The United Nations has said that Israeli strikes on schools probably violated the law by causing disproportionate harm to noncombatants. More than 1,000 people in Gaza have been killed since the collapse of the cease-fire on March 18 and more than 50,000 people have been killed since the start of the war, according to the Gaza health ministry. The bodies of 86 people killed by Israel arrived at hospitals across Gaza on Thursday, according to the health ministry. This article originally appeared in

Sa'ada sees massive protests for International al-Quds Day
Sa'ada - Saba: Thirty-five large-scale marches took place on Friday afternoon across Sa'ada province to commemorate International al-Quds Day, demonstrating strong support for the Palestinian cause. Participants in the marches, held in various locations including the Prophet's Birthday Square and other district centers, chanted anti-Israel and anti-American slogans, declaring Israel a "cancerous tumor" and the United States the "Great Satan." They vowed that airstrikes would not deter their support for the Palestinian people. Sa'ada governor Mohammed Awad praised the high turnout, emphasizing the Yemeni people's fearlessness and continued commitment to supporting Palestine. A statement issued by the marches highlighted International al-Quds Day as a call for Islamic unity against Israel, particularly in light of the ongoing conflict in Gaza and alleged Israeli aggression against Lebanon and Syria. The statement criticized Arab and Islamic inaction and accused the United States of complicity. The statement connected al-Quds Day marches to the tenth anniversary of Yemen's "National Day of Steadfastness," framing them as a continuation of Yemen's resistance against the Saudi-led aggression and the United States. They emphasized Yemen's unwavering support for Palestine, even amid their own aggression. The statement reiterated Yemen's commitment to "jihad" against the United States and Israel enemy, expressing confidence in divine victory. They also praised the Yemeni people's resilience against the Saudi-led aggression, citing their ongoing support for Palestine as a testament to their principles.
