We exposed Pakistan, showcased India's unity against terrorism: IUML MP

New Delhi : Members of the all-party parliamentary delegation, led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde, have expressed satisfaction over the success of their multi-nation diplomatic outreach after returning to India. IUML MP ET Mohammed Basheer said the delegation effectively projected India's unified stance against terrorism and exposed Pakistan's role in fostering it. 'I am happy to say that the assignment given to us was wonderfully completed and we are fully satisfied with it. Wherever we went, we exposed Pakistan and showcased India's unity against terrorism. Our delegation's leader Shrikant Shinde was very cordial, coordinated the entire thing, and performed well. We feel that we did our work marvelously. The purpose of the delegations was served,' Basheer said. Echoing similar sentiments, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and senior advocate Manan Kumar Mishra thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the opportunity and hailed the solidarity expressed by various nations during the visit.' We thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving us this opportunity. We have fully achieved our delegation's purpose. You would not believe the solidarity that the UAE, an Islamic country, showed India. In two Parliaments (Sierra Leone and Liberia), a moment of silence was observed for the departed souls of the Pahalagam attack. In Liberia, our delegation got to address the parliamentarians in the Upper House, the Senate... We have been able to convey that Pakistan is a terrorist country. It is a breeding ground for terrorists, that dispatches terrorists to India and the rest of the World,' Mishra said. The delegation's tour, which included visits to multiple countries, aimed at bolstering India's diplomatic engagement and counterterrorism narrative on the global stage. As part of the visit, the delegation travelled to the UAE, Liberia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Sierra Leone, engaging in high-level meetings to strengthen bilateral relations and promote India's global outreach. The delegation, led by Shinde, included BJP MPs Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, Manan Kumar Mishra, Indian Union Muslim League's ET Mohammed Basheer, Biju Janata Dal's Sasmit Patra, BJP leader SS Ahluwalia, and former Ambassador Sujan Chinoy. During the visit, in a notable diplomatic milestone, Shrikant Shinde became the only Indian Member of Parliament to address the national parliaments of both Liberia and Sierra Leone. A statement from his office highlighted this historic outreach, calling it a step forward in deepening India's parliamentary and diplomatic ties with West Africa. The Shinde-led delegation's visit strengthened bilateral ties between India and Liberia, with the Indian delegation receiving a warm welcome and ceremonial honours. The delegation also interacted with the Indian diaspora and visited the Gurudwara in Monrovia.

African nations stand strongly with India, condemn Pahalgam attack: Shinde led all-party delegation as visit concludes

Monrovia [Liberia], June 3 (ANI): The all-party delegation led by Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde concluded India's diplomatic outreach programme, sharing India's stance against terrorism and condemning Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in Liberia on Tuesday. Delegation members IUML MP ET Mohammed Basheer, BJP MP SS Ahluwalia, and BJP MP Atul Garg unanimously highlighted the strong support from African countries for India's fight against terrorism, their condemnation of the terror attack, and their recognition of Pakistan as a breeding ground for terrorism. The delegation, which visited Liberia, Sierra Leone, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the UAE, successfully exposed Pakistan's role in terrorism while fostering international solidarity. Basheer expressed satisfaction with the mission ahead of their departure, noting that it was 'effective' and that the African nations strongly condemned that attack. 'I'm satisfied and gratified because the government took us into confidence and entrusted a noble work to us... The leader of this group was very cordial, and he gave all kinds of opportunities to all the members. As far as the outcome of our mission is concerned, I feel it was very effective. All team members have deep knowledge... All the African nations we visited have said they stand strongly with India,' the IUML MP stated. 'Everybody says that India should take the lead to fight against terrorism. Not only that, but I would also like to say one more thing: that we were able to expose Pakistan,' he added. Echoing this sentiment, Ahluwalia thanked Prime Minister Modi for the opportunity to showcase India's stance on the global stage. 'First of all, I thank our Prime Minister, who gave me an opportunity to be included in this parliamentary delegation... In the present era, terrorism has emerged as a painful sore that can disturb the peace of any country... In the neighbourhood of India, Pakistan is a breeding centre for terrorism... Our visionary Prime Minister decided that the whole world must unite and fight against terrorism,' the BJP MP said. BJP MP Atul Garg also reinforced the positive response, stating, 'On visiting different nations, we found out that they are supporting India. We told people about the situation in Pakistan. We received an amazing response in the African countries. The people of Africa love India and Modi ji. There was not one country that did not condemn (the Pahalgam attack).' Earlier, wrapping up a high-level diplomatic mission, the delegation leader and Shiv Sena MP Shrikant Shinde described the 13-day visit by the delegation as a unified assertion of India's zero-tolerance approach to terrorism and a reflection of its rising global stature under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. 'I thank Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving me the opportunity to lead this delegation. I consider myself fortunate to work alongside experienced parliamentarians and leaders like SS Ahluwalia, ET Mohammed Basheer, Atul Garg, Sasmit Patra, Bansuri Swaraj, Sujan Chinoy, and Manan Kumar Mishra,' said Shinde, highlighting the camaraderie and team spirit that developed during the visit. Reflecting on the experience, Shinde said the delegation not only deepened its understanding of the countries visited but also conveyed India's message of peace and its zero-tolerance stance against terrorism. 'We carried the voice of 140 crore Indians and the message of our Prime Minister to these nations. Everywhere we went, the warmth and affinity shown towards India were unmistakable. The influence of Prime Minister Modi was clearly visible,' he noted. The delegation, led by Shinde, includes BJP MPs Bansuri Swaraj, Atul Garg, Manan Kumar Mishra, Indian Union Muslim League's ET Mohammed Basheer, Biju Janata Dal's Sasmit Patra, BJP leader SS Ahluwalia, and former Ambassador Sujan Chinoy. The group briefed international partners on India's response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack and its broader fight against cross-border terrorism while engaging with leaders in key countries. This all-party delegation, consisting of seven groups led by one MP each, has been initiated to counter global misinformation and highlight India's zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. (ANI)

Kerala has 63 properties of Pakistan nationals

There are 63 properties in Kerala belonging to Pakistan nationals that have been categorised as enemy properties. These properties are chiefly spread across Malappuram (37), Kozhikode (20), and Kannur (six). As the word suggests, enemy properties are assets owned by individuals or entities that are deemed enemies of the country, particularly those who fled India during times of conflict. In Kerala, the assets are mainly of those who moved to Pakistan or were trapped in Pakistan during partition as well as the post-Independence period, says P.H. Kurian, former Additional Chief Secretary, Revenue. As per the law, the Enemy Property Act, 1968 allows the government to take control of these properties or dispose them of, he says. According to the guidelines of the Union Ministry of Home, enemy properties are sold through e-auction by carrying out valuation of such property by a committee under the aegis of the district magistrate concerned, where the property is situated. E.T. Mohammed Basheer, MP, who took up the issue in Parliament says these properties mainly belong to two categories of people. Those who migrated to Karachi for business and job purposes akin to the migration to the erstwhile Bombay and those who voluntarily migrated to Pakistan during partition. P.T. Kunju Muhammed, who handled the subject in his film Paradesi, says the condition of those who migrated to Pakistan either for job purposes or during partition was pathetic. 'I had met many children of such people during my stay in the Gulf, and the majority of them admitted that their forefathers had committed a big mistake. Though they are treated as traitors, a good number of them went to Karachi for running teashops, beedi works and the betel leaves trade, etc.,' he says. There was also an outfit called Malabar Muslim Jamaat in Pakistan for the welfare of Keralites trapped in that country. Not only Karachi, there were people who migrated to Dhaka as well as these were the bustling cities during that period, says Mr. Muhammed. Compared to such enemy properties in northern India, the number of such properties in Kerala is much lower, says Mr. Basheer. Now, the Centre has taken several steps to fast-track the monetisation of enemy properties. According to a notification issued last year, all district magistrates should act as ex officio deputy custodians of these properties. Also, as part of auctioning these properties, the pre-bid earnest money deposit has been reduced from 10% to 5% to attract bidders, and the payment period of the sale value increased to 120 days from 21 days.
