Meeting chaired by Al-Madani to discuss activities implemented during afforestation season
Sana'a - Saba: A meeting in the capital Sana'a on Monday, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Administration and Local and Rural Development Mohammed al-Madani, discussed activities implemented during the afforestation season and plans to enhance vegetation cover in various provinces. In the meeting, which included Ministers of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, Dr. Radwan al-Rubai Health and Environment, Dr. Ali Shaiban; Chairman of the Agricultural Cooperative Union, Mubarak al-Qili; and a number of agricultural and environmental leaders, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the government, through the National Committee for Economic Empowerment, is working on parallel tracks to find sustainable alternatives for those who rely on cutting trees as a source of income. He pointed out that protecting the environment is a national and societal responsibility that requires integrated efforts. He emphasized the importance of providing central support to local authorities to enable them to implement afforestation plans, in addition to exploiting the autumn season to expand green areas. He urged the provision of peace tree and jujube tree seeds and the expansion of seedling production, contributing to building a sustainable environment that serves future generations. Al-Madani noted the role of the media, preachers, and dignitaries in raising environmental awareness, stating that Yemeni society, with its rural nature, is qualified to lead the agricultural-ecological transformation, especially with community mobilization through the Agricultural Cooperative Union. The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources announced the launch of a national project to plant one million seedlings during the current agricultural season, stressing that the ministry had actually begun implementing the project last March, along with planting 100,000 jujube seedlings in Tihama and Saada, through the ministry's own efforts and the community. Al-Rubai explained that the ministry had established new nurseries in provinces that lacked them, especially Al-Jawf, to strengthen the infrastructure of the agricultural sector, emphasizing that agricultural awareness programs also include summer centers, as part of building a generation with agricultural awareness. For his part, the Minister of Health and Environment pointed out that the deterioration of the vegetation cover impacts public health and the environmental situation, which requires concerted efforts and the development of solutions and alternatives to prevent excessive logging and raise environmental awareness of its risks and harms. Dr. Shaiban emphasized the need for coordination between various stakeholders to provide a healthy and safe environment, calling on all members of society to assume their national responsibilities in preserving and protecting environmental resources. The Chairman of the Agricultural Cooperative Union affirmed the union's commitment to implementing the directives of the Ministry of Agriculture and development partners, highlighting the importance of implementing afforestation campaigns through agricultural cooperatives to ensure direct access to farmers and achieve a real impact on the ground. Sana'a launches agricultural natural resources mapping workshop
Sana'a - Saba: A five-day scientific workshop commenced in the capital Sana'a on Monday to discuss the outcomes of the first phase of the agricultural natural resources map of Yemen. The workshop, organized by the Irrigation and Agricultural Land Reclamation Sector in collaboration with the Water and Environment Center at Sana'a University, brings together researchers, academics, and specialists from various Yemeni institutions. The workshop aims to assess soil and water resources, land use, crop composition, vegetation cover, and climate in selected districts, creating a comprehensive database of available land resources. Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed al-Madani emphasized the workshop's importance in discussing scientific research and applying it across relevant ministries to reduce imports. He highlighted the government's focus on value chains and reducing the import bill, noting the connection between natural resources mapping and developmental and human aspects. Al-Madani revealed plans to introduce specific pepper and tomato varieties to reduce imports and empower local farmers. He also outlined plans to develop value chains for 1,400 imported food items, highlighting Yemen's progress in achieving garlic self-sufficiency. Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources Dr. Radwan al-Rubai, stressed that the workshop aligns with national directives to utilize agricultural resources, particularly land and water. He emphasized the importance of these studies in enhancing food security and achieving self-sufficiency. He praised the cooperation between the Land Reclamation Sector and the Water and Environment Center and urged the involvement of experts and consultants in the process. He highlighted the importance of studies on Tihama Plain and eastern regions, vital agricultural areas. Dr. al-Rubai considered the natural resources map a crucial tool for understanding environmental diversity and determining suitable crops. He urged collaboration between academics and the ministry in policy development and research. The Rector of Sana'a University emphasized the workshop's role in guiding development efforts and promoting research-based agricultural development. Director of the Water and Environment Center Dr. Taha al-Washli highlighted the center's role in conducting scientific studies for value chains and promoting rain-fed agriculture. Dr. Mohammed al-Mashriqi presented the study's scope, objectives, and methodology, while other researchers presented findings on environmental characteristics, water and soil resources, land use, vegetation cover, and crop composition. Ibb inaugurates 245 service projects worth over 9 billion Y.R
Ibb - Saba: A significant milestone in Ibb province's development was marked on Saturday with the inauguration of 245 service projects, totaling 9,416,543,000 Y.R. The projects, spanning various sectors, were opened by First Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed Miftah, Minister of Administration and Local and Rural Development Mohammed al-Madani, Ibb governor Abdulwahid Salah, and Secretary-General of the Local Council Amin al-Warafi. The diverse projects included: Local Funding: 52 projects (2,200,242,000 riyals) encompassing roads, agriculture, health, education, and other sectors. Community Initiatives: 143 projects (2,244,834,000 Y.R) and 4 irrigation projects (109,062,000 riyals) implemented with community collaboration and support. Central Support and Donor Agencies: 46 projects (2,787,387,000 Y.R) in water, public works, roads, education, and rural water, along with 14 Social Fund for Development projects. Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit: Projects in roads, education, health, agriculture, and services (1,722,917,000 Y.R). The total cost of community initiative projects, involving both community and local authority contributions, reached 2,075,016,000 Y.R. Miftah praised the local authority's efforts in fostering community initiatives and implementing national directives. Governor Salah revealed that 649 projects, valued at 21,892,732,000 Y.R and $5,387,000, are currently underway in the province, with completion rates ranging from 60 to 100 percent. Ibb officials review progress on service, development projects
Ibb - Saba: A meeting chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed Miftah convened on Saturday in Ibb province to assess the progress of service and development projects and to strategize on enhancing their implementation. The meeting, also attended by Deputy Prime Minister Mohammed al-Madani and Ibb governor Abdulwahid Salah, reviewed the progress of community initiative projects across various sectors and districts, taking necessary actions to ensure their successful completion. Miftah commended the achievements of community initiative projects, supported by the local authority and the Central Emergency Development Interventions Unit, in improving citizen services. He urged further efforts to expedite project implementation. He also highlighted plans to implement economic empowerment projects funded by the General Authority of Zakat, emphasizing the crucial role of associations in training and qualifying beneficiaries from impoverished families. He stressed the need to address environmental pollution through well-planned and practical programs. Deputy Prime Minister al-Madani emphasized the importance of collaboration through community initiatives and government support, highlighting that local development is based on social and economic aspects. He pointed to the state's efforts to reduce imports by encouraging local production, with associations playing a key role in economic empowerment projects. Governor Salah outlined the projects implemented in the past year, noting that community initiative projects in the province have totaled 42 billion Y.R. He stressed the commitment to expanding projects, particularly in economic empowerment and environmental protection, and collaborating with relevant authorities for sustainable development.
