Shura Council reviews transportation strategy
The Shura Council, chaired by Speaker HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, on Monday heard a presentation by Minister of Transport HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani, on the key themes of the Ministry of Transport's 2025-2030 general strategy and its efforts to develop a sustainable, smart, and safe land, sea, and air transport system, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030). The Speaker of the Shura Council emphasized the vital role played by the Ministry of Transport in regulating and developing various transport sectors. For his part, the Minister of Transport presented the ministry's 2025-2030 strategy during the session, explaining that it focuses on promoting economic growth and leveraging the country's advanced infrastructure to provide the best transport services to citizens and residents. He said the ministry is working to modernise the technological infrastructure, adopt smart transportation systems, and utilize artificial intelligence applications to develop the transportation sector. The minister highlighted the development plans for Hamad International Airport, noting the recent expansion of Concourses D and E. He also addressed efforts to expand international partnerships in the aviation sector and improve the quality of services provided to passengers, strengthening Qatar's position as a global hub for air transport. Qatar, ICAO sign cooperation agreement
DOHA: The State of Qatar has signed an administrative services agreement with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The agreement signing was attended by Minister of Transport HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani, and President of the ICAO Council Salvatore Sciacchitano. The signing took place on the sidelines of the ICAO Facilitation Conference (FALC 2025), which kicked off on Monday in Doha. The agreement was signed by Acting Director-General of the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority Mohammed Faleh Al Hajri and Secretary General of ICAO Juan Carlos Salazar. This agreement embodies ICAO's unwavering commitment to enhancing international cooperation and driving sustainable growth in the aviation sector worldwide. Qatar, Algeria sign air transport services agreement
Doha: Minister of Transport HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Thani and HE Algerian Minister of Transport Said Sayoud signed an air transport services agreement between the State of Qatar and the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. The agreement allows designated carriers from both countries to operate an unlimited number of passenger and cargo flights, strengthening economic and tourism ties between the two nations. This agreement aligns with the State of Qatar's efforts to enhance its global connectivity through new air service agreements, enabling the national carrier to expand its network and reach more international destinations. Following the signing ceremony, HE the Minister of Transport met with HE the Algerian Minister of Transport, and discussed bilateral relations between the two countries in the fields of transportation and civil aviation, as well as various transport activities, and explored ways to advance and broaden cooperation to new horizons.
