Police shooting leaves armed suspect dead in Arizona
LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man is dead following a police shooting in Arizona after officers said he pointed a weapon at them.
The shooting took place on Friday shortly before 2 p.m. in the 4700 block of Ty Street in Kingman.
Officers with the Mohave County Sheriff's Office responded to a home after reports that an armed man was pouring gasoline inside. Officers located the man but said he refused to leave the home. A SWAT team and Bullhead City police officers were called in to assist with the matter.
When the man exited the home, officers said he pointed a weapon at SWAT members and officers. That is when SWAT members fired their weapons, striking the man. He was then taken to a nearby hospital where he later died from his injuries, according to the Mohave County Sheriff's Office.
The investigation is being conducted by the Lake Havasu City Police Department, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office stated on Friday.
The officers involved in the shooting are on paid administrative leave.
