Reckless driving on SKVE: Police record lorry driver's statement

SHAH ALAM: Police have recorded a statement from a lorry driver suspected of driving recklessly and veering into the opposite lane on the South Klang Valley Expressway (SKVE) bridge. The incident went viral recenty. Kuala Langat police chief Superintendent Mohd Akmalrizal Radzie said the incident occurred about 2pm on April 16. "Police detected a 33-second video showing a green Volvo lorry being driven recklessly and dangerously on the Pulau Indah bridge, SKVE. "The lorry driver, travelling from Westport Klang towards Kajang, overtook another lorry. "Investigations found that the bridge has double solid lines, and vehicles travelling in the opposite direction were forced to stop on the hard shoulder to avoid a collision," he said in a statement today. No casualties were reported. The lorry driver has since come forward to provide a statement to the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at the Kuala Langat police headquarters. Akmalrizal added that the driver, a man in his 30s, is employed by a private transport company based in Port Klang. "Checks show that the driver holds a valid driving licence and a urine screening test returned negative for all types of drugs." The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving. Anyone with information about the incident can contact the nearest police station or investigating officer Inspector Nor Baiti Mustafa at 014-5006072 or 03-31872222.
