The New Delhi-based organisation alleged that the law was not being implemented in the state and sought directions to the govt to strictly enforce it, especially in view of Bakrid scheduled to be celebrated on June 7. Counsel for the organisation contended there was a high chance of cow slaughter and smuggling of beef in Telangana in light of the festival. The petitioner also claimed that there has been no action from the govt despite their representations. Appearing for the state, additional advocate general Mohd Imran Khan said the high court's earlier directions in similar matters were being implemented and sought time to file a counter. Justice K Sarath posted the matter to June 18 for further hearing.
