Araria court awards life term to two for murder
Araria: District additional judge (IV), Araria, Rabi Kumar, awarded life imprisonment to Sonu alias Mir Mashkoor (22) and Jahan Ara alias Janira (28) after both were found guilty of the murder of one 21-year-old Mohd Sohail of Araria town.
The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on each, police said.
According to the police, the convicts had taken Mohd Sohail to the riverside of Araria town in good faith on Feb 26, 2023 and killed him there using a sharp weapon, and causing multiple injuries to his body. "His decomposed and mutilated body was found after two days of the incident. The police lodged an FIR based on the statement of his elder brother, Mohd Tauhid," said additional public prosecutor, Prabhat Kumari.
The case was put on a speedy trial, and the court, after assessing the evidence available in the case record and giving hearing to both sides, the court found both men guilty of the brutal murder. It also found both guilty of concealing and hiding evidence of the murder, she added.
