Goya Cares raises $350,000 in fight against human trafficking

NEW YORK (PIX11) — January is Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and PIX11 News is partnering with Goya to tell the stories of impact. The CEO of the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the United States has launched a massive campaign and is giving hundreds of thousands of dollars to community champions helping fight human trafficking. More Local News From Rockland County to New Jersey, right now there is an army of community champions making it happen when it comes to cracking down on human trafficking. Goya Cares is making the funding happen. It was a television first: three CEOs on PIX11's Monica Makes It Happen Show each received $50,000 checks from Goya Cares to fight for our children. Dr. Shakeema North, the CEO of Covenant House NY, Julia Einbond, the CEO of Covenant House NJ, and Elizabeth Santiago, the CEO of the Center for Safety and Change in Rockland County each received $50,000. The CEO of Goya has launched a massive preventative education campaign in schools to help fight child trafficking, a hidden epidemic in our area. On this month's Monica Makes It Happen Show, she sits down with Hollywood star Leon, 'Global Peace Doctor' Erica Ford and Assemblymember Khaleel Anderson of District 31 in Queens.
