Bahraich: 12-yr-old attacked by wolf
Bahraich: A 12-year-old boy, identified as Aman, was attacked by a wolf in Kharmariya Hardo Patti village in Mahsi area of Bahraich district early on Thursday morning. The boy sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The forest department has, so far, failed to capture the wild animal and the repeated wolf sightings have triggered fear among villagers. Panic gripped the Mahsi Tehsil of Bahraich district where a wild wolf snatched a two-year-old child from his mother's lap on Tuesday night. A few hours later, the child's mutilated body was recovered from a nearby sugarcane field, triggering fear and anger among the locals. District magistrate, Bahraich, Monika Rani, who has initiated several precautionary measures, said that the area is being monitored using drones. She has directed officials to maintain night surveillance in vulnerable villages, particularly those near forests. The DM has also appealed to residents to keep a close watch on their children, avoid sleeping outside or on open terrace and immediately report any sighting of wild animals to officers concerned. The DM directed the officials to coordinate with PRD personnel, anganwadi workers, sanitation staff, village heads, lekhpals and gram panchayat secretaries. They were instructed to stay alert from 8 pm to 5 am, raise awareness among villagers and continuously update a designated WhatsApp group with real-time information.
