Orlando Pirates news: Mbokazi, Saleng, Mofokeng, Amankona
Orlando Pirates have several stars on the verge of being poached abroad. Alongside former PSL Player of the Year Patrick Maswanganyi, star defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi, Monnapule Saleng, and Relebohile Mofokeng are among those linked with moves abroad. The former has already received a R25.8 million bid from Zamalek FC, while city rivals Al Ahly, Jose Riveiro's new club, are eyeing teenager Mbokazi. Regarding Monnapule Saleng, the jury is still out as to whether he will stay or go. However, having not featured since early December, the assumption is that it will be the latter. According to reports, Ghana Premier League leading goalscorer Stephen Amankona is being offered to the PSL's big three – Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns. 'Stephen's contract is ending soon and this is a great opportunity for him to explore new challenges. He's been introduced to a few clubs in South Africa and there's been some interest. Orlando Pirates star following Riveiro to Al Ahly?
Jose Riveiro, formerly with Orlando Pirates is headed to Egyptian giants Al Ahly. His former winger Monnapule Saleng is also linked with the Red Devils. 'With Jose Riveiro set to be unveiled at Al Ahly, reports about when negotiations between the two parties started have revived speculation of Monnapule Saleng possibly following suit,' Kick Off reported. 'The Spaniard could not deny the possibility of signing one of Pirates players for his new club, although he stressed he would not be directly involved. Will Orlando Pirates' Monnapule Saleng will play against Kaizer Chiefs in the Soweto Derby?
NO SURPRISE Monnapule Saleng is unlikely to feature for Orlando Pirates in the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs amid ongoing wage dispute speculation. Picture: Sydney Mahlangu/BackpagePix While the debate over who will come away victorious in the Soweto Derby rages on until kick-off, one issue which will not dish up any hint of a surprise is that Monnapule Saleng will likely play no part for Orlando Pirates against Kaizer Chiefs. With the reason for Saleng's nearly five-month absence narrowed down to a wage dispute with the club (although this is still speculation), it's highly unlikely he will be a surprise inclusion in the Pirates match-day squad in the Betway Premiership clash set for 3pm on Saturday at FNB Stadium. However, given the importance of the fixture, Pirates will need every asset at their disposal. Throughout the Saleng saga, his ability has never been in question. It's for that reason that it's a mark against Pirates that they have been unable to resolve the issue, if indeed it is a wage dispute.

Orlando Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng could feature in their next match against Golden Arrows on Tuesday evening. The 27-year-old was teased by the club on Monday during their training session. He was pictures training with teammates as they prepare to play their final league matches of the season. Having lost out in the Nedbank Cup final to Kaizer Chiefs, the Buccaneers will look to finish the season on a high. Tuesday's encounter with Arrows will be Jose Riveiro's last match for Pirates, as he had requested an early release.
