Haley Joel Osment Apologizes For Spouting Antisemitic Slurs During Arrest

Actor Haley Joel Osment is apologizing for using antisemitic slurs against a police officer during an arrest earlier this month. The 37-year-old was arrested April 8 at a base lodge near the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area after officers received a call about his allegedly 'unruly conduct.' On Thursday, he was charged with possession of cocaine and disorderly conduct by the Mono County District Attorney's Office. But what really stuck out from Osment's arrest are his comments caught on bodycam footage. At one point he can be heard moaning, 'I've been kidnapped by a fucking Nazi,' and at another point, he called the arresting officer a four-letter slur for Jewish people, according to TMZ. After the video went public on Thursday, Osment issued a statement to various media outlets apologizing for the 'disgraceful language' he used while being arrested. 'I'm absolutely horrified by my behavior. Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner,' Osment wrote. 'The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place.' Earlier this year, Osment lost his home in the California wildfires. His sister, Emily, vowed on Instagram, 'We will rebuild. We are so strong, even stronger than we could ever imagine.' However, Osment acknowledged, 'that's no excuse for using this disgusting word.' He added: 'From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage - I've let the Jewish community down and it devastates me. I don't ask for anyone's forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake.' Osment is scheduled to be arraigned on June 7. Need help with substance use disorder or mental health issues? In the U.S., call 800-662-HELP (4357) for the SAMHSA National Helpline.

Haley Joel Osment arrested for public intoxication at Ski Resort

Actor Haley Joel Osment, known for his role in The Sixth Sense, was arrested on April 8, 2025, at a California ski resort on charges of public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance. The arrest occurred at Mammoth Mountain Ski Area after police responded to reports of "unruly conduct." Haley Joel Osment, 37, was taken into custody at around 2 p.m. local time on Tuesday, April 8, after Mammoth Lakes police were called to the scene due to reports of the actor's disruptive behavior. The arrest took place in the parking lot of Mill Base Lodge, a popular location within Mammoth Mountain Ski Area. First reported by People Magazine, police sources confirmed on April 16 that Osment was charged with public intoxication and possession of a controlled substance, which is currently believed to be cocaine. "The controlled substance right now is presumed to be cocaine. We sent it for testing. We will have the results soon," the source added. Sergeant Jason Heilman of the Mono County Sheriff's Office confirmed Osment's arrest, stating, 'He was booked and is no longer in custody." However, as of now, the Mono County District Attorney's Office has not decided whether formal charges will be filed. The incident remains under investigation. Representatives for Osment have yet to respond to requests for comment. The actor's mugshot, taken after the arrest, was later released by the Mono County Sheriff's Office. This is not Osment's first brush with the law. In 2018, the actor was involved in a public verbal altercation at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas during Super Bowl weekend. Additionally, in 2006, at the age of 18, Osment was charged with misdemeanor drunk driving after a car accident. He pleaded no contest to DUI and possession of marijuana charges and was sentenced to three years of probation. Osment's legal troubles have drawn attention in recent years, though the actor, who gained fame for his role in The Sixth Sense, has since continued to pursue his acting career. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen what legal consequences Osment will face regarding the recent incident.
