KC mother shot in the mouth, father shot twice with kids in the car

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A Kansas City mother was shot in the face Monday while sitting in the car with her kids outside East Hills Village Apartments in the 7600 block of Monroe Avenue . Her boyfriend was also shot outside the car. Kay Wright and her boyfriend were about to head out to do some Door Dash deliveries before the lunch hour Monday at 10:40 a.m. Their car needs coolant so her boyfriend was under the hood filling it as she got her children ages one and four in the car and sat down in the passenger seat. Armed security guards heading to KC's Country Club Plaza via new owners 'As soon as I turned around, boom! They shot a bullet in back and went over my daughter's head and hit me in the mouth right here. And then the bullets just kept flying,' Wright said. Doorbell camera video shared with FOX4 captured one shot, followed by a short pause and thenthen at least two more shots. Wright's boyfriend was shot in the arm and foot. He jumped in the driver seat and they rushed to Research Medical Center with the hood still up on the car. 'As soon as we got to the door I started screaming I'm shot, my boyfriend is shot, my kids are in the car,' Wright said. Wright says police were given that video and told where to find the shooters. She said she's never spoken to the people she believes targeted them. 'They almost took our life for no reason,' she said. Now out of intensive care and with her boyfriend recovering well, the 28-year-old mother is thankful the bullets missed her children. Kansas City drivers dodge objects tossed out of moving car on highway 'I'm so happy that they are alive because nobody should have to go through nothing like that, especially when you don't do nothing to nobody,' Wright said. The couple has five children altogether. But once she leaves the hospital, she says she's not sure where she'll go this Mother's Day weekend because she doesn't feel safe returning to the apartment with no arrests made. 'We aren't going to have no place to go, nobody is trying to help us. Nobody is trying to help us see justice,' Wright said. Kansas City Police say the investigation is ongoing. Man flees bank after failed attempt to open registers, charged with robbery

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man has been charged with attempted robbery after police said he tried to rob a bank on Monroe Avenue Wednesday afternoon. Rochester police said a man demanded cash from a teller at the Chase Bank on Monroe Avenue around 2:30 p.m. Officers said while doing this, the suspect threw a customer keypad, then climbed over the divider, tried to get into the cash register, and chased the bank tellers out of the bank. After he was not able to get the registers, he ran out of the bank. Security officers gave police a description of the suspect, and 26-year-old Divante Pitoni was found on Monroe Avenue and Meigs Street Tuesday evening and was taken into custody. After failing to open the registers, the suspect fled the bank on foot. Pitoni was charged with attempted robbery in the third degree and criminal mischief in the third degree.
