Person still at large following police shooting and fire in April: Alberta RCMP
An RCMP cruiser is pictured with the logo painted on the side. (Source: Facebook) Alberta RCMP have been cleared in a shooting that ended up in a house fire in Maskwacis last month. On April 24, Mounties were asked by the Edmonton Police Service to arrest several people in a stolen vehicle who went into a home on Montana First Nation. Two people came out of the house and were arrested without incident. A third person, who RCMP believed was in the home and had a gun, did not. When additional officers arrived to help with the arrest, RCMP said a 'confrontation' took place and at least one officer fired their gun. RCMP said the house caught on fire shortly afterwards. No one was seen exiting and no one was found inside after the fire was contained. The officer-involved shooting was investigated by the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) and it was concluded that no civilian was harmed. ASIRT has finished its investigation and RCMP are reviewing the matter internally. Mounties are continuing their search for the person who was previously believed to be inside the home at the time of the shooting. With files from Karyn Mulcahy
