Rapper Lil Nas X says he has ‘lost control of the right side of my face'

Rapper Lil Nas X has said he has 'lost control of the right side of my face' before reassuring fans he is 'OK'. The 26-year-old posted a video on social media of himself in hospital attempting to move his mouth and laugh while one side of his face remains still. In the video posted on Instagram, the Old Town Road rapper, whose real name is Montero Hill, said: 'This is me doing a full smile right now, by the way. 'It's like what the f***, bro, I can't even laugh right. Oh my god.' View this post on Instagram A post shared by ☆dreamboy. (@lilnasx) In a later post he added: 'We normal over here (showing the left side of his face), we crazy over here (showing the right side).' He then told fans to 'stop being sad for me', encouraging them to 'shake your ass for me instead'. Famous friends and fellow musicians wished the artist well, with Garbage singer Shirley Manson replying: 'Sending you love.' The rapper did not give a reason for what caused the issue or why he was in hospital. Some of the temporary conditions which can cause facial issues are Bell's Palsy, which causes a weakness or lack of movement to one side of the face, or Ramsay Hunt Syndrome, in which a shingles outbreak affects the facial nerve near the ear, according to the NHS. Singer Justin Bieber cancelled several dates on his Justice World Tour in 2022 after contracting Ramsay Hunt Syndrome. Lil Nas X began his career in 2015 and shot to fame with country-rap single Old Town Road in 2018. He has had two UK number one singles and one UK top 10 album. The star is next due to perform at the Outloud Festival in the US, which will run from May 31 to June 1.
