Woman accused of posting school threats on social media enters plea

A woman accused of making threats against a school district in Montgomery County has entered a plea. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Rayona Hunt, 23, pleaded no contest to one count of making terroristic threats, according to Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas records filed on Friday. She could also face up to five years of parole once she is released, according to court records. One count of inducing panic and one count of obstructing official business were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. >> PREVIOUS COVERAGE: Woman accused of making school threats in Montgomery County facing charges As previously reported by News Center 7, Hunt is accused of posting threats toward Harrison Township and Dayton Public Schools on social media in September. The schools were placed on lockdown and multiple deputies were re-assigned to the buildings after the threats. In a statement, Montgomery County Sheriff Rob Streck said threats of violence against schools are 'not only disruptive but deeply unsettling to our community.' A man charged for his mother's murder more than 17 years after she was beaten and strangled has entered a plea. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Jeffrey Young pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity for his charges connected to the death of Patricia Peck, according to Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas documents filed on March 19. >>RELATED: Son accused of killing his mother arrested for murder 17 years later He filed his plea the day after a judge found him competent to stand trial. Court records indicate that Young must now undergo a psychiatric examination. Young was arrested and charged for the death of his mother in June 2024. News Center 7′s Cheryl McHenry previously highlighted Peck's case in Miami Valley Murder Mysteries in 2023. Peck was reported missing on Feb. 24, 2007, after she didn't show up to work at her hair salon. 'I had seen her on the Friday night before she went missing just for a few minutes. She told me she had plans with her son,' Ron Rohling, a close friend of Peck told McHenry during Miami Valley Murder Mysteries in 2023. Nearly two weeks later, on March 8, 2007, Peck's car was found in a parking lot of the now-Dayton Airport Hotel. Inside the car was her body, covered with blankets and a towel, and stuffed on the rear seat floor, according to a previous News Center 7 report. The Montgomery County Coroner determined that Peck died from strangulation. In 2023, the Dayton Police Department Cold Case Unit obtained new evidence, including DNA, and reopened the case. Young was arrested on June 13 in the 300 block of W 3rd Street and remains booked in the Montgomery County Jail. A woman accused of using someone else's credentials to get a Licensed Massage Therapist job in Huber Heights has been formally charged. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Amber Taylor was indicted on tampering with records (government records), forgery, and practice of medicine without a certificate charges on Wednesday, according to Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas records. Taylor allegedly used someone else's Physical Therapist Assistant license to get a permit for an LMT job at Tranquility Spa and Salon in Huber Heights, according to the spokesperson. The Huber Heights Police Department investigated this case. Additional information was not immediately available. Taylor is scheduled to appear in court on April 3.
