18-year-old arrested for sexually assaulting minor for years
Faridabad: An 18-year-old youngster was arrested by Faridabad police on Tuesday after a minor complained that he had been blackmailing and sexually assaulting for almost three years. According to the girl, who is now 16 years old, the youngster – Monu -- belongs to UP but he was staying with his relatives in Faridabad. He befriended the minor, who lived close by, she told cops. In Oct 2022, the two of them were in her family's farm when the youngster offered her a cold drink. The minor said she accepted it, but after having it, she fell unconscious. The youngster, who would have been a minor at the time, allegedly raped her in the field and took videos and photos. He then used these to continue blackmailing and sexually assaulting her, the complaint read. Police said they are treating the accused as an adult as the alleged offence continued till after he turned 18. He was arrested and produced before a city court, which sent him to judicial custody, on Wednesday. "The accused has been charged under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and for threatening the girl," a Faridabad police spokesperson said.

Ferozepur drone strike: Two critically injured shifted to Ludhiana DMC
Two members of the family, who were injured in the drone attack, have been shifted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital, Ludhiana, officials said on Saturday. Three members of the family were injured in a Pakistani drone attack in Ferozepur district on Friday. It was the first such case of injuries being reported in a suspected drone attack. Ferozepur deputy commissioner Deepshika Sharma confirmed the development. 'The government would bear the entire cost of medical treatment of all the three victims,' she added. The injured were identified as Lakhwinder Singh (55), his wife Sukhwinder Kaur (50), and their son Jaswant Singh alias Monu (24). The couple suffered over 90% burn injuries, while Monu sustained splinter injuries from the drone debris. Monu is currently admitted to a hospital in Ferozepur and is expected to be discharged within the next two days. The incident took place at Khai Pheme Ki village, located 12km from the Ferozepur district headquarters, around 9 pm. Officials said the three people sustained injuries after the debris of a drone –– intercepted by India's Air defence system –– hit a car, causing a fire to erupt. 'The army has neutralised most of the drones used in the attack, with this being the only incident where three individuals sustained injuries. Authorities are continuing to investigate the matter further,' Ferozepur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said. Ludhiana: Robbers' gang busted, stolen mobiles seized
The Sadar police have dismantled a gang of armed robbers that had been targeting residents across multiple city areas. With the arrest of four accused, the police have recovered 23 snatched mobile phones, five motorcycles, four wristwatches, three sets of AirPods, and two sharp-edged weapons used in the crimes. (HT Photo) The arrested individuals have been identified as Golu Kumarr, 26, a factory worker from Giaspura, Mohan alias Monu, 31, of Manakwal, who is out on parole since December 2024, Mukesh Kumar, 21, another factory worker from Giaspura and Anil Kumar, 25, of Lohara Road. According to additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) City 2 Karanveer Singh, the arrests have helped the police crack at least six robbery and snatching cases carried out by the gang since December 2024. The gang operated in areas including Dehlon, Sadar, Dugri, and Daba, where they would threaten victims with weapons and rob them of cash, vehicles, and other valuables. The ADCP revealed that two of the arrested have prior criminal records. Golu Kumar was previously booked for possessing illegal weapons by Ropar police in April 2022. Mohan, alias Monu, has an FIR against him in a 2015 gang rape case and another under the Prison Act registered in 2020. He is currently out on bail. More important information has been expected from the accused during questioning.
