White Sands National Park releases visitor numbers for March 2025
WHITE SANDS, N.M. (KRQE) — White Sands National Park released its visitor count for March 2025 on Monday. The park saw a total of 91,656 visitors that month, which is a 13% decrease from last March.

The park has seen 175,611 visitors this year, which is a 5% decrease from this time in 2024. You can find a further breakdown of the numbers provided by the National Park Service below:
2,057 visitors attended 20 sunset strolls
48 visitors attended Lake Lucero tour on March 15
46 visitors attended Moonlight Hike on March 14
7,184 visitors watched the orientation video at the visitor center
2,189 new Junior Rangers were sworn in
Three junior ranger programs given for 31 junior rangers
Staff made 194 Preventative Search and Rescue contacts
The White Sands National Park would like to highlight a couple of events going on in April. Alamogordo Earth Day is being held at Almeda Park on April 19. Sunset strolls are offered daily, weather permitting, with no reservation required.
'Program starts at signs along Dunes Drive about 7 miles from the visitor center betweenthe Backcountry Camping Loop parking lot and the Yucca Picnic Area,' the National Park Service said in a press release. 'No charge for the program. Park entrance fees apply.'
Park hours are from 7 a.m. until 30 minutes after the sun sets. Visitor center hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through May 22. You can find more information online.
