Local bank's 100th anniversary marked with gift back to the community
LAMAR, Mo. — A century in the business is a rare milestone, but a local bank has reached it.
Lamar Bank and Trust celebrated 100 years of service in Barton County. Founded in March of 1925, the bank has grown alongside the community for the past century.
Last week, more than 1,200 people attended a community celebration to mark this centennial milestone. In honor of the bank's 100th anniversary, the bank invested in renovations to the public shelter at Lamar's City Park.

'We're locally owned and operated, which is not common anymore in the world of banking. And so we believe I mean, our mission is to serve our customers and to help our people. And so we want to be a part of this community,' said Kent Moorey, Senior Vice President of Lamar Bank and Trust Company.
Moorey said the shelter project is expected to be completed in the coming months. He also said the company plans to eventually add a new location in Lockwood.
