1 dead, 2 hurt in Morganton shooting: Sheriff
BURKE COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One person is dead and two others are hurt after a shooting in Morganton Saturday evening. Deputies with the Burke County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of Kathy Road and McAlpine Avenue around 5:45 p.m. When deputies arrived, they discovered that one person with a gunshot wound was transported by a personal vehicle to the hospital. That person was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Queen City News is tracking CRIME in your area 🚨 >> There were two other victims. One was transported by EMS to UNC Health Blueridge and another refused medical treatment and had non-life-threatening injuries. Officials have not released any details on arrests or the identities of the victims. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is conducting an investigation. Interstate shut down, 3 in hospital following shootout
Burke County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene of a shootout in Morganton on Saturday evening. Deputies arrived at the scene on Kathy Road near a farm supply store before 9 p.m. Channel 9's Dave Faherty was on the scene. Officials told him the shootout resulted in three people being hospitalized. READ: Deputies respond to mass shooting at party in Catawba County Multiple weapons were used in the shooting, and the scene stretched for about half a mile of roadway, deputies said. Officials told Faherty that the shootout occurred between people in cars and multiple vehicles were struck. No additional details have been made available. This is a developing story.
