Moroccan Exporters Head to Egypt to Boost Trade Ties
Rabat — In a move to boost trade relations between Morocco and Egypt, exporters from the North African country are set to visit Cairo this weekend.
The delegation is expected to explore new business opportunities, according to the Moroccan Confederation of Exporters (ASMEX).
The delegation of 35 business leaders is traveling to the Egyptian capital from May 3-5, 2025.
Initiated by the Secretary of State for Foreign Trade Omar Hejira, ASMEX President Hassan Sentissi El Idrissi is leading the mission with the aim to promote 'Made in Morocco' products.
'This mission is the result of long-term strategic work carried out by ASMEX with determination and vision,' said a confederation's spokesperson.
The visit builds on recent talks with Egyptian officials. In April, the Egyptian ambassador visited ASMEX headquarters, followed by a successful 'Egypt Country Zoom' event where participants learned about market opportunities and how to enter the Egyptian market.
Business leaders and the press praised these initiatives, which showcase ASMEX's commitment to promoting national exports and addressing industry needs.
Through its president's consistent leadership, the Confederation demonstrates its ability to unite, prepare, and support companies through strategic partnerships rather than improvised approaches.
ASMEX stressed that a successful economic mission depends on careful preparation, representative participation (exclusively exporters in this case), and clear objectives.
The organization continues its responsible mission to support Moroccan exporters while defending its role as a leader in the country's economic diplomacy.
The two countries have recently been intensifying bilateral economic ties. Morocco and Egypt have recently pledged to fortify bilateral trade relations through a newfound Egyptian 'Fast Track' system.
The system is set to streamline access for Moroccan exports into Egyptian markets, establishing concrete mechanisms to facilitate trade, including a direct communication line to address obstacles between the two nations.
