You can look out for yellow or red stickers on products, which show when they've been reduced. If the food is fresh, you'll have to eat it quickly or freeze it for another time. Plenty of supermarkets run wonky veg and fruit schemes where you can get cheap prices if they're misshapen or imperfect. For example, Lidl runs its Waste Not scheme, offering boxes of 5kg of fruit and vegetables for just £1.50. 'My £2.49 Morrisons Too Good To Go bag contents made me feel physically sick'
A woman was left seriously disappointed when she eagerly opened a Too Good To Go bag from Morrisons Café, only to be left feeling 'sick' and with the 'heebie jeebies' Too Good To Go bags are all the rage thanks to the fact that you can get nice food for a fraction of the normal price. But when one woman went to pick up her £2.49 'hot food' bag from Morrisons Café, she was left bitterly disappointed and feeling "sick" at what she found inside it. Becky Chorlton thought she'd scored a cheap dinner with the bag, as she received two boxes within it, and was seriously excited to open them. But the first one she opened did not get her excited to rush home and eat it. One of the boxes contained a vacuum-sealed chicken tikka masala alongside boil-in-the-bag rice, and she wasn't impressed. In a video posted to her TikTok account, Becky, who has 415,000 followers, gasped: "Oh my God, what is that? That's so weird, what the hell? "I'm not sure about that. That kind of gives me the heebie-jeebies". Too Good To Go bags are a popular way to grab a mix of tasty, often freezer-safe meals at a bargain price while doing your bit to reduce food waste, but sometimes, they miss the mark of the customers' expectations because oftentimes, customers are unaware of how things are made behind the scenes. Becky was grossed out, but she wanted to check out the second box and was desperately hoping that it would be something more delicious-looking than the first. When she peeked inside the box, her mood instantly changed, as she spotted a whopping seven hash browns, three slabs of black pudding, and a mountain of sausages for her to tuck into on the spot. In the comments, viewers were split with their opinions, as some were impressed at how cheap the boxes were and how good the value was, however, some were totally put off by the contents of the first box. One commenter said: "I'd be the exact same with meat in a bag, even chicken in microwave meals can make me feel a bit dodgy sometimes". "It's £2.49, be grateful," someone else urged, asking her to consider why she was disappointed with the first boxes' offering. Another person said: "That's not bad at all – sure, the plastic pouches aren't appetising, but any food would look like that in a plastic pouch". Morrisons has been contacted for comment. It's not the first time Morrisons Café has come under fire for not meeting expectations. Senior Social News Reporter Danielle Kate Wroe picked up a £10 ingredients bag and was left flabbergasted at the contents, referring to them as 'insulting' as they were allegedly worth £30. All it contained was: 2.5kg of mixed carrots and parsnips 2.5kg cauliflower gratin 4 sachets of nacho cheese She wrote: "After opening the bag, I truly felt deflated. Obviously, I was doing this for a bit of fun - an experiment, if you will, to see whether the Morrisons Cafe bags really were as bad as some had made them out to be on TikTok. "But it's no joke if you spend your hard-earned cash on something that's supposed to be worth £30 only to find that it's not even worth the tenner you spent on it". When approached for comment regarding Danielle's issue, a spokesperson from Too Good To Go said: "We are committed to ensuring a positive experience for everyone who saves food with us. While food surplus is naturally unpredictable, we work closely with all of our partners to uphold quality and value standards. "If users feel these haven't been met, we encourage them to contact Customer Care via the app so we can investigate and resolve the issue. We're sorry this Surprise Bag fell short and will be reminding the store of our minimum value requirements. "While disappointing, cases like this represent a very small percentage of the thousands of bags we save every day as part of our mission to inspire and empower everyone to fight food waste together."

Supermarket giant giving out FREE doughnuts in cafes
The treat comes as a celebration of Spring FREE doughnuts are being handed out by a supermarket giant - here's how to get yours. Shoppers warn they better "make the most of the free doughnut," as many of this retailers in-store cafes have shut recently. 3 To celebrate spring, Morrisons is treating customers to a free doughnut when they purchase any hot drink in a Morrisons Café 3 The doughnuts are freshly baked daily by Morrisons expert bakers Credit: alamy Morrisons is giving out a free doughnut when customers buy a refillable hot drink from an in-store cafe. The hot drink selection includes tea, coffee and hot chocolate. It's available in "the majority" of Morrisons cafes, but be warned, the deal ends on Sunday, April 27. Hundreds of shoppers have responded to the news on a Facebook post. One person said: "Our Morrisons cafe in Gorse Covert Loughborough is brilliant and always friendly and clean." Followed by a second: "Got mine today in Perth…took it home, heated it and had it with custard ." "I'll be in today," said another. Meanwhile a fourth commented: "Cafe closes at the end of April so make the most of the free doughnut." It comes as Morrisons announced its decision to shut 54 cafes and 17 stores. Blyth's Crisis: Locals Voice Anger Over Crime, Job Losses, and Political Betrayal Morrisons said they are "not taking the decision lightly" as 365 staff members are plunged into potential redundancy. The news also sparked fears the Kids Eat Free and Free Fruit initiatives could also be scrapped, but Morrisons has now confirmed that this will not be the case. A spokesperson told The Sun: "The Kids Eat Free offer in partnership with Birds Eye remains as does the free fruit for kids." At all Morrisons cafes, children under the age of 16 can get a free kids meal, if their parent of guardian purchases an adult meal priced at £4.50 or over. Children are entitled to one free meal per adult meal purchased, and the meals include a piece of fruit and a bottle of juice or water. The supermarket also hands out free fruit to children within its stores, that is at risk of not being sold before its best before date. The offer is available every day, and aims to reduce food waste, whilst helping kids to reach their five a day. Mass Closures As well as the 52 cafes and 17 Morrisons Daily stores currently closing, a total of 18 Market Kitchens, 13 florists, 35 meat counters, 35 fish counters and four pharmacies will also close their doors. Not only will this disappoint many customers, it also means that 365 workers are at risk of redundancy. Rami Baitiéh, chief executive of Morrisons revealed that the closures, announced today, are to "reinvigorate" the company, and allow money to be invested in other areas. He added: "In most locations the Morrisons Café has a bright future, but a minority have specific local challenges and in those locations, regrettably, closure and re-allocation of the space is the only sensible option. 'Market Street is a beacon of differentiation for Morrisons and we remain committed to it. "But as we modernise we are making some necessary changes to the areas of the model which are simply uneconomic. "In some stores where we are closing counters or Cafés, we plan to work with third parties to provide a relevant specialist offer. 'Although these changes are relatively small in the context of the overall scale of the Morrisons business, we do not take lightly the disruption and uncertainty they will cause to some of our colleagues. "We will of course take particular care to look after all of them well through the coming changes." 3 Morrisons is shutting 52 of its cafes and 17 stores as part of a huge shake-up Credit: getty

I got 6 meals for £3.79 thanks to a Morrisons Café Too Good To Go bag
Have you tried a Too Good To Go bag, or are you still wondering what all the fuss is about? Too Good To Go is an app that allows members of the public to buy surplus food at a discounted rate, allowing them to bag a bargain while saving food from going in the bin. From Toby Carvery to Greggs, I've tried a few bags now, but this time, I got my hands on a Morrisons Café mystery bag to see what I got inside and if it was worth it. The app allows you to search for mystery bags that are available to collect in your local area so that's exactly what I did – here's how it went. The amount of food I got for £3.79 is really impressive (Image: Newsquest) On the app, I was told I'd get a mix of cakes and sandwiches, but my bag was filled with sandwiches that had a variety of fillings. Although the sweet tooth in me was a little disappointed I didn't get any cake, I was still amazed at how generous the café was. In the bag, I got an impressive six sandwiches ranging from Ham and Mature Cheddar on Malted Bread to a Meatball Marinara in a White Sub, ideal if you're heading out for a picnic or you're entertaining friends or family at home. I think six sandwiches for the price of £3.79 is a bargain since each sandwich can be a meal. I got six sandwiches in the Too Good To Go bag (Image: Newsquest) In the brown paper bag given to me by a Morrisons staff member were the following items: Sandwiches: Cheddar Cheese on White Bread x2 Ham & Mature Cheddar on Malted Bread Double Egg & Cress on Malted Bread Panini: Chargrilled Veg & Basil Pesto in a White Panini Sub: Meatball Marinara in a Soft White Sub With the sandwiches having short dates, picking up one of these bags is ideal if you can dish them out and get them eaten pretty quick, but I think some will last better than others. The app had crossed £7.50 out above the £3.79 price, but I'm not sure if this is what the bag should've cost or what the items inside would've come to had I bought them individually at the Morrisons Café, but I think it was a good deal anyway. Recommended reading: Overall, I'd recommend trying a Too Good To Go mystery bag to see what you get - it could make for a cheap lunch or dinner option, depending on where you go and what's inside the bag. I think the surprise element is what makes picking up one of the bags a fun exercise, if you're not a fussy eater, that is. One downside is that you might have to collect a mystery bag late in the day when a store or restaurant is about to close, but each bag has its collection time stated, so you can choose one that suits you best, for example, on the way home from work.
