Asda issues urgent recall for popular sandwich filler as buyers warned 'do not eat'

Asda has issued an urgent recall for a popular sandwich filler , urging buyers to return the item immediately. The supermarket giant has urged any shoppers with the item to return it to their nearest store. Anyone who has a 160g packet of Asda's own brand Hot and Spicy Chicken Breast Slices with the use-by date of May 30, 2025, should avoid eating it. The product comes in at £2.94 and is currently listed on Asda's website. If you have the sliced chicken with a different date, then your product is not affected. Similarly, no other chicken products from Asda are affected by the recall. The Food Standards Agency said in a statement on Tuesday, April 29, that the supermarket had "precautionarily" recalled the sliced chicken as those packets were showing an incorrect use-by date. The FSA issued a 'do not eat' warning over the item. Asda has promised a full refund for anyone who returns the product, with no need for a receipt. In a statement, they said: "Product has been packed with the incorrect use-by date. "If you have purchased Asda Hot and Spicy Chicken Breast Slices with a use-by date of May 30, please bring it back to your nearest store where you will be given a full refund. "You do not need your receipt. "We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact Asda Customer Relations - 0800 9520101." In a statement on their website, the FSA said: "Our advice to consumers. If you have bought the above product do not eat it. "Instead, return it to your nearest store for a refund. For further information, contact ASDA's customer relations line on: 0800 952 0101." The Mirror reports that you can check the Food Standards Agency and Chartered Trading Standards Institute websites for any other recalls. You should also notice recall notices in stores if they've pulled a product from shelves. Asda was one of three supermarkets to make recalls of different products last week. They recalled their Simple To Cook Asian Inspired Pork Belly Slices, as the product's label may have neglected to note the presence of milk and sulphites. Morrisons urgently recalled its 400g pack of Morrisons The Best 6 Thick Cumberland Sausages, with a best before date of May 1, 2025, as it may have contained "small pieces of blue plastic". Elsewhere, Aldi pulled its Inspired Cuisine Baby Potatoes with Herbs and Butter because the label does not mention milk as an ingredient.

Morrisons, Asda, and Aldi issue emergency product recalls as millions warned of safety concerns

Three major supermarkets have all all made emergency product recalls, with urgent warnings sent out to millions of consumers. Morrisons is the latest store to announce a recall via the Food Standards Agency (FSA) website. This is due to a problem with sausages. Morrisons is offering refunds to affected customers without any need for a receipt, while Asda and Aldi have similarly distributed warnings through the FSA earlier in the week. Scots customers are encouraged to bring back products involved in these alerts to their local stores . Products may be withdrawn or recalled when there's a risk to buyers, such as missing or incorrect allergen information. Or when any different allergy-related issue arises. Should there be concerns about food allergies, the FSA steps in to issue an Allergy Alert, alerting the general populace, reports Birmingham Live . At times, an issue pops up with a food item that makes it unsuitable for sale. That item might be 'withdrawn' - yanked from the aisles - or 'recalled' - calling for customers to return the item. Morrisons has urgently pulled its Morrisons The Best 6 Thick Cumberland Sausages 400g off the shelves, which carries a best before date of May 1, 2025. "Morrisons is recalling the above product with Use By 01 May because there is a risk that some packs may contain small pieces of blue plastic," the supermarket said. "Please do not eat this product and return it to your nearest store for a full refund. We don't need a receipt." A spokesperson stated: "No other products are affected by this issue. We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety." Meanwhile, Asda is recalling its Asda Simple To Cook Asian Inspired Pork Belly Slices since the product's label may neglect to note the presence of milk and sulphites. For people with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites or an allergy or intolerance to milk or its components, this may present a health risk. Some packs may also include Asda Simple To Cook Tomato and Mozzarella Pork Meatballs by accident. Consumers who have purchased the product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or its components, or a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites, are encouraged not to consume it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was purchased to obtain a full refund. Elsewhere, Aldi is recalling Inspired Cuisine Baby Potatoes with Herbs and Butter because the label does not mention milk as an ingredient. For people with an allergy or intolerance to milk or its components, the product may pose health risks. Aldi has been advised to liaise with relevant allergy support organisations, who will inform their members about the recall. Notices will be displayed at all retail outlets selling this product, explaining the reason for the recall and advising customers on what to do if they have purchased the product. Customers who have bought the product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents are advised not to consume it. Instead, they should return it to the store from which it was purchased for a full refund.
