Warriors Make Surprise Announcement on Moses Moody After Playoff Struggles

Turns out that thumb injuries were a popular ailment among players for the Warriors in 2024-25. Stephen Curry had the best-known of thumb problems on the team, suffering a jam on his right thumb in January that affected him for the rest of the season, even into the playoffs. Gary Payton II also had a thumb injury for a big chunk of the late season, suffering a partial tear in a ligament in his left thumb on March 27, an injury he, too, dealt with during the playoffs. Advertisement Now, it turns out, guard Moses Moody was also working through a thumb problem before the Warriors were eliminated from the playoffs by the Timberwolves in the conference semifinals last week. The team announced that Moody had surgery to fix the problem. He is expected to make a full recovery and be ready for the start of training camp." Moody averaged a career-high 9.8 points per game this year for the Warriors, and shot 37.4% on 1.7 attempts from the 3-point line, both of which were also career highs. Advertisement He struggled in the postseason, though, and saw his role reduced, as he shot only 35.0% from the field and 33.3% from the 3-point line. His minutes dropped from 22.3 to 16.1 per game. Moody has never quite lived up to the hopes the Warriors had for him, but has been a useful role player in his four NBA seasons. He will begin a three-year, $37.5 million contract extension next season. Warriors Make Surprise Announcement on Moses Moody After Playoff Struggles first appeared on Athlon Sports on May 22, 2025

Warriors Make Key Injury Announcement After Playoff Exit

The Golden State Warriors' 2024-25 season came to an end in the second round of the NBA playoffs as they were eliminated in five games by the Minnesota Timberwolves. This was not the ending to the season that Golden State had in mind after they looked like a true title contender after adding Jimmy Butler to their veteran duo of Stephen Curry and Draymond Green at the trade deadline. Advertisement Unfortunately for the Warriors, Curry ended up suffering a Grade 1 left hamstring strain in Game 1 of their second-round series against the Timberwolves and he was sidelined for the remainder of the series. While Curry's injury was the major headline for the Warriors, one of their other key players reportedly suffered an injury during the postseason as well. On Thursday, the Warriors announced that Moses Moody had surgery on a torn UCL in his right thumb but he is expected to be back in time for training camp. Of course, Moody was seen at times late in the season with a wrap on his thumb and Golden State announced why with Thursday's announcement. Guard-Imagn Images While Moody put together the best regular season of his career, it was clear that something was up in the playoffs as he struggled shooting the ball. In the playoffs, Moody averaged only 7.1 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game while shooting 35.0% from the field and 33.3% from three. It is clear that Moody's struggles likely came from his injured thumb and he will now look to bounce back next season after having surgery on it. Warriors Announce NBA Champion Undergoes Surgery

The Golden State Warriors were projected to compete for the championship this season after acquiring Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat in February. The Warriors beat the Houston Rockets in the first round of this year's playoffs in seven games behind the stellar play of Butler and Steph Curry, setting up a clash with Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round. Advertisement Golden State won Game 1 in Minnesota, but Curry suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain and missed the rest of the series. Without Curry, the Warriors lost four games in a row. Curry will use this offseason to recover from his left hamstring injury. He's not the only player, though, who will have to use the summer to heal.
