Naomi Watts' daughter Kai glams up for mother-daughter event in New York after coming out as trans

Naomi Watts and her daughter Kai Schreiber are serving tens across the board as the hosts of a glamorous fundraising event for the trans community in New York City. The British-born Australian actress, 56, and her 16-year-old daughter dolled up in matching gold metallic ensembles for the sold-out Mother Daughter Holy Spirit party on Thursday night. Naomi looked every inch the proud parent as she wrapped an arm around Kai's waist and flaunted their mother-daughter likeness for the cameras. The pair sported matching dramatic makeup with bronzed cheekbones, heavy eyeliner, as well as plum lipsticks, and both wore their blonde locks out. Naomi finished her look with a pair of black leather trousers and a smart blazer, while Kai let her gold sequins do the talking. In the next slide shared to her Stories, Naomi revealed the packed crowd at One for One – a new private venue in Midtown East created as a collaborative space for artists and culture makers. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'We are so pleased to introduce Naomi Watts as a host of Holy Spirit, a party by to fundraise for the Trans Justice Funding Project,' an announcement shared earlier this week read. 'A parent's love is important to every human on earth. 'For trans people, the love and support of a parent can be absolutely crucial. Pictured, Naomi Watts is with her daughter in ...owning MOTHER DAUGHTER.' The Trans Justice Funding Project is a community-led funding initiative that was founded in 2012 to support grassroots, trans justice groups run by and for trans people in the United States. Tickets for the event were priced at US$30 for trans people and US$65 for allies. Naomi played the mum-of-Instagram as she snapped a photo of Kai cuddled up to Hari Nef, an openly transgender model and actress at the event. The outing comes after the Mulholland Drive star shared never-before-seen photos of her daughter, Kai, and son Sasha, 17, on Mother's Day earlier this month. 'My heart is so full. Thank you Sasha and Kai for giving me motherhood,' she said. Naomi played the mum-of-Instagram as she snapped a photo of Kai cuddled up to Hari Nef, an openly transgender model and actress at the event Naomi went on to also thank her current husband Billy Crudup for organising the family day: 'And to Billy for the most wonderful day. Feeling so grateful.' Kai came out as transgender in 2025 on Instagram, after making her her runway debut for Valentino during Paris Fashion Week in March. 'I'm so eternally grateful that I'm so supported as a young transgender girl,' the up-and-coming model and activist wrote. 'But there are so many boys and girls like me who can't say they have the same blessing. 'Our job is to stand up and support those young beautiful lives, and the @aliforneycenter is helping us to do so.' Kai's father, actor Leiv Schrieber, also stood by her side at the Ali Forney Center's A Place at the Table gala at The Glasshouse. The Ali Forney Center is a New York City non-profit which provides shelter and healthcare services to LGBTQIA+ youth experiencing homelessness. 'This isn't just about representing the trans community,' he said. 'These are people who are being rejected. These are people who are experiencing the harshest version of humanity that we can offer, and some of them are not surviving it.' 'We got to bear that in mind when we go out there and glam ourselves up and get ready to be seen, you know?' Schreiber continued. 'That what we're doing is actually raising money for a community that desperately needs it.' 'Kai is embracing her space in the trans community like never before,' Liev said. 'Kai is such a fighter,' he added. 'It's important that she goes, "Hey, I am trans," and, "Look at me."'

Denise Richards' daughter doesn't look like this anymore as she ditches OnlyFans look for Mother's Day

Denise Richards ' daughter Sami Sheen toned down her usually racy look for a post-Mother's Day outing with her mom on Monday. Gone were her skin-tight clothes, peek-a-boo tops, lingerie and heavily made-up face she sports in life and on her OnlyFans page. Sami, 21, looked just as gorgeous as she always does on Monday in a pink-and-white floral sundress with understated, natural makeup and silver hoop earrings. Sami and her 54-year-old mother were joined on the outing to The Commons in Calabasas by Denise's other daughters, Lola Sheen and Eloise Richards. Lola also wore a white sundress and carried a pink cardigan, while mom Denise wore a cropped oversized white top with a tiered, white maxi skirt and straw ball cap as she held an adorable white dog. The family seemed to be in good spirits as they had lunch, grabbed some gelato and meandered through the shopping center taking selfies. She cast aside her racy OnlyFans style in favor of a sweet, reserved look while out with mom Denise Richards. The actress wore an oversize white cropped top with a tiered, white maxi lace skirt and straw ball cap And while Sami has a good relationship with her mother and sisters, that is not the case when it comes to her father, Charlie Sheen, 59. Sami took a dig at her estranged father's drug-fueled past after revealing they haven't spoken in a year. She posted a TikTok video last month of herself lip-synching along to the 59-year-old Brat Packer's defiant 2011 interview on ABC's 20/20. It was taped six days before Charlie was fired from his lucrative $1.8 million-per-episode gig on CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men and following his third attempt at rehab in 12 months. 'Are there any drugs in the house?' interviewer Andrea Canning asked Sheen. 'If there are, you better find them and give them to me immediately,' the four-time Emmy nominee jokingly replied. 'No, there are not. Not that I know about, if I know about them, I'll find them and throw them away. It's not a big deal. Ooh! Drugs in the house, ah, we're all gonna die!' Sami — who boasts 361K social media followers — captioned her post: 'When people wonder why I haven't spoken to my dad in a year but this is my dad. Pretty much sums it up.' Sheen was only two years old when Charlie and Denise finalized their divorce after just two years of marriage, during which they also welcomed 19-year-old daughter Lola. 'We haven't spoken on the phone in almost a year,' the OnlyFans model told Casual Chaos with Gia Giudice. 'And then we haven't texted in a little over six months.' Sami was offended when Sheen didn't check in on her following her August 12th rhinoplasty surgery, and she eventually had to block him because he was texting 'me some crazy stuff.' 'I have no idea if he's still sober,' Sheen said. 'I honestly hope the stuff he was sending me was because he wasn't sober because that would at least make it a little better...I had to put a stop to it and tell him, "Do not contact me ever again because this is crazy."' The LA native only ever lived with the Bookie guest star between ages 17-18 as she moved into her very own apartment and became financially independent upon joining OnlyFans after becoming a legal adult. Sami's subscriptions on the Fenix International-owned XXX platform are currently on sale for $5 per month, but the adult content app takes a 20 percent commission on all of her earnings (which allegedly amount to over $3 million). Sami, the eldest daughter of Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards, listed her past plastic surgery procedures in a TikTok last month. At the top of the list was lip filler, which the OnlyFans personality said she started getting at age 18 and touches up 'every year.' The blonde beauty noted that she also over-lines her lips, calling it 'an addiction.' Sheen also made sure to include a beauty injectable she didn't like — Botox. 'I got Botox in my forehead and I hated it,' she confessed, adding, 'I actually got it to lift my eyebrows up like this [gestures] but it did the complete opposite.' The reality television star continued, 'After that I discovered nose filler. So I did that in the tip of my nose and the bridge to try to make it more straight and lifted.' Ultimately, she said the filler 'worked a tiny bit, but I just needed a rhinoplasty, so I got that done twice.' 'Next, I finally got the big procedure and I got the girls done,' she said in reference to her breast implants. They're finally fully dropped and settled in,' Sami continued while gesturing toward her chest.

Mother's Day afternoon tea celebrates familial bonds old and new

Five years ago, in the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Michele McGuire came to Ceresville Mansion just north of the city of Frederick to watch her daughter Erin Detert get married. On Sunday, the pair returned to the venue for a special afternoon tea to celebrate their own mother-daughter relationship and the start of a new one. Detert, of Rockville, is expecting a baby girl — her first child — at the beginning of July. McGuire, of Germantown, joked that Sunday was Mother's Day for her and "pre-Mother's Day" for Detert. Detert said she appreciates McGuire's kindness and generosity, as well as how she "always takes care of the people she loves." The fact of her becoming a mom hasn't quite set in yet, Detert said. But when the baby does come, McGuire said, she thinks her daughter will be "very loving." "I think she will make time for her, and bring her up under God's blessings," McGuire said. A total of 80 guests came to Ceresville Mansion for the Mother's Day afternoon tea on Sunday, according to Marketing and Development Director Darina Argueta. It was the venue's second year hosting the event, and it sold out both times. "It's an honor to celebrate our mothers and be part of the Frederick community in the celebration of those who gave us all life," Argueta wrote in a message on Sunday. "We are excited to continue this annual tradition for many years to come." Alexander Funk and his mother Gina Funk traveled to Frederick from the Hanover, Pennsylvania, area for the Mother's Day tea. Gina said her own mother started the tradition of going to tea when Alexander and his younger sister, who was finishing her final exams in New York on Sunday, were little. Ceresville Mansion was one venue they hadn't been to yet. Alexander said he enjoyed the tea at the mansion so much that he didn't have to add any cream or sugar — a rarity since he is picky when it comes to tea. He credits his mom and her "tough love" for making him into the person he is now. "That's what I look up to, and what I hope to bring to my kids someday," Alexander said. Gina said she admires Alexander's carefree personality, saying she wishes she had more of that trait herself. At the same time, Gina said, "I like how he has developed into a man who I actually enjoy having a lunch with." Constance Baptist did not know what she was doing for Mother's Day until Sunday morning. Her daughter Ashlé Barfield always keeps their plans a surprise, even picking out her mom's outfit for the holiday. Baptist and Barfield, both of Monrovia, have always enjoyed a close relationship. Their birthdays are just four days apart, and Barfield is Baptist's only child. Raising Barfield as a single parent was a struggle at times, Baptist said, and things weren't always perfect. But there has always been love between them. Barfield said her favorite thing about Baptist is "her nurturing spirit." "I never felt like I went without anything — physically, emotionally or spiritually," Barfield said. The pair grew even closer in 2023, when Baptist underwent brain surgery. She said Barfield stayed by her side the whole time and helped nurse her back to health. "You can tell how strong your bond is when your children become adults, and they come back to take care of you," she said.

Karabo Lediga pays tribute to her larger-than-life mom in heartfelt new film Sabbatical

Upcoming film, Sabbatical, starring Mona Monyane and Clementine Mosimane, unravels the tense yet touching relationship between a Pretoria mother and daughter. Coming to screens this Mother's Day weekend, the film is inspired by takeaways from director Karabo Lediga's relationship with her larger-than-life mother, Kgomotso Lediga. Imparting pearls of wisdom, the filmmaker emphasised the importance of daughters being honest with their mothers, stressing that 'secrets don't really work'. Accomplished writer and producer Karabo Lediga, known for partnering with her Emmy-nominated sibling Kagiso Lediga through his Diprente production company, has unveiled her proudest work yet as a director in the upcoming film Sabbatical. Filmed across Pretoria and Johannesburg, this dramatic comedy will hit theatres on Friday, 9 May, perfectly timed for the Mother's Day weekend. The film stars Mona Monyane and Clementine Mosimane as mother-daughter duo Lesego and Doris Tau. Synopsis: Lesego, a banker, returns unannounced to her childhood home and her overbearing mother, whom she hardly visits. Unbeknownst to her mother, a life-changing secret brought her back, threatening to upend their fragile relationship forever. Described by Karabo as 'a very dramatic yet honest and funny portrayal of a black mother and daughter,' Sabbatical provides an unflinching glimpse into family dynamics and generational tension. Speaking to News24 about the film during its screening at Montecasino on Tuesday, she linked the Pretoria-based narrative closely to her own experiences: 'It's very much Pretoria-based – it's very much my voice as somebody from Soshanguve, Atteridgeville and Akasia as well,' Karabo said at the movie's screening on Tuesday evening at Monte Casino. A look at the red carpet from the screening: Karabo revealed that much of her inspiration for the film came from her dynamic with her own mother, Kgomotso Lediga, and even her mother's friends. 'My mom is a very big character – she's almost like a movie character. It's always interesting watching her, her friends and the stuff that happens around her, so I would always take some stuff from them,' she said. I'm blessed with an interesting mom, so the story kind of asked to be told, you know – mom and daughters have this conflict, and I don't know how to explain it. I have nothing against her, but we clash, and I found those clashes interesting and worthy of telling. With days to go until the film's premiere, Karabo hopes Sabbatical will inspire dialogue between mothers and daughters about the power of honesty. This heartfelt takeaway is wrapped in humour and drama, making the film an emotional tribute to familial bonds. 'Be honest with your mothers. Find a way to talk respectfully, you know. Secrets don't really work. But, overall, there's an interesting conversation about truthfulness to be had with our mothers,' she said. Collaborating with her brother once more on the production, Karabo said their dynamics had matured over the years after starting off with petty fights. The siblings have previously teamed up for productions such as Queen Sono and The Pure Monate Show, among others. Kagiso served as the producer on the film. 'We've been working together for many years, and now it feels like we are creative partners. I lean on him a lot for creative decisions as well – even though I usually get my way, I always need some advice, and he and his partner, Tamsin Andersson, are really good at producing. They have really good taste,' Karabo said. Reflecting on her daughter's achievements, mom Kgomotso expressed overflowing pride: 'I never thought she would reach this, but because I saw her growing and growing, I'm so proud. I feel so great,' she said. An honest celebration and reflection of the complexities of motherhood and daughterhood through a humorous yet healing lens, Sabbatical is a must-watch this Mother's Day weekend.
