Ballarat woman Cheryl Lucas committed to stand trial accused of murder
A Ballarat woman has been committed to stand trial in the Supreme Court after being charged with murder last year.
Cheryl Lucas, 38, appeared via video link in the Ballarat Magistrates Court today from the Dame Phyllis Frost Correctional Centre.
Ms Lucas has been in custody since late December.
It is alleged Ms Lucas murdered a 47-year-old man just days after Christmas at an address in the Ballarat suburb of Mount Helen.
It is alleged Ms Lucas stabbed the man at the property just before 8am on December 28.
Emergency services attempted to perform CPR on the man but he died at the scene.
Ms Lucas previously pleaded not guilty to the charge and exercised her right to have her matter fast-tracked to the Supreme Court this morning.
She has been committed to stand trial and will reappear in court in July.
Ms Lucas was remanded in custody.
