Cornish charities urged to apply for share of £1 million fund
Cornwall residents are being urged to nominate their favourite charities to receive a share of £1 million.
The Movement for Good Awards, now in its seventh year, is an initiative by the Benefact Group aimed at supporting charities across the country.
This year, the group is set to donate more than £1 million to various causes.
Residents can nominate their chosen charities to receive a £1,000 donation.
Nominations can be made at
The winning charities will be drawn at random.
There will also be special sector-specific draws, where charities can secure larger grants of £5,000.
The schedule for these draws is available on the website, with winners announced throughout the year.
Since its inception in 2019, the Movement for Good Awards has donated more than £6 million to charities in the UK and Ireland.
Cornwall-based causes such as Prickles and Paws Hedgehog Rescue, Tamar Donkey Sanctuary, and Histiocytosis UK have previously benefited from the funding, thanks to more than 11,100 public nominations.
Mark Hews, group chief executive of the Benefact Group, said: "Benefact Group is a family of award-winning specialist financial services companies and the third largest corporate donor to charity in the UK.
"Owned by a charity ourselves, charitable giving is at the heart of what we do.
"All of our available profits go to good causes and the more the group grows, the more the group can give.
"We are delighted to be able to donate over £1 million to good causes each year through our Movement for Good Awards and are grateful to all our supporters, including the customers of the trusted insurer, Ecclesiastical, and the responsible and sustainable asset manager, EdenTree.
"Our Movement for Good Awards help charities change lives for the better and we know that for many charities, £1,000 can make a real difference."
The Benefact Group, a family of award-winning financial services companies, has donated more than £230 million to charitable causes since 2014 and was recognised as the third biggest corporate giver in the UK last year.
With a goal to reach £250 million by 2025, the organisation is committed to ensuring its profits drive positive change.
