Woman, 74, killed in horror Donegal crash between car & van named locally as mum-of-four amid ongoing witness appeal

A WOMAN who died following a collision between a car and a van in Co Donegal last night has been named locally. The The late Ms Hamilton was a mother-of-four. She is the seventh person to die on Donegal's roads this year. Ms Hamilton was involved in a crash which occurred at Bunlin Bridge on the Milford to Cranford Road at around 7.30pm. The mother-of-four was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Read more in News Her body was removed to Letterkenny University Hospital for post-mortem examination. The driver of the van, a man aged in his 50s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. The road where the crash occurred reopened this afternoon at 4pm following an examination by forensic collision investigators. Most read in The Irish Sun Head of the Garda Road Traffic Corps in Co Donegal, Inspector Sean McDaid, appealed for any witnesses to the crash to come forward. A statement read: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the R245 at Bunlin Bridge, Milford, Co. Donegal, this evening Friday 30th May 2025. Gardai and RSA measures aimed at driving crash deaths on Irish roads "The incident, involving a car and a van, occurred at approximately 7.30pm. "A female driver, aged in her 70s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. "Her body has been removed to Letterkenny University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course. "The male driver of the van, aged in his 50s, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries. "There were no other injuries reported. "The road remains closed at this time pending examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place. "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area between 7.15pm and 7.45pm are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardai. "Anyone with any information is asked to contact Milford Garda Station on (074) 9153060, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
